Senior network / palo alto consultant

15 years of overall industry experience working with cross functional teams.

At least 8 years of strong operational network experience with firewalls (primarily Palo Alto).

Illumio Host Agent experience is a plus.

Strong networking skills; CCNP certification or higher.

Collaborative attitude with ability to work across business units and application teams.

Ability to drive application owners toward successful outcomes.

Strong understanding of the big picture and how technical components fit together.

Strong ability to multitask, prioritize activities, and meet deadlines.

Ability to provide technical leadership to less experienced personnel individually or in teams.

Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

US citizenship required.

Ability to pass background checks.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 8 years as a security consultant working with Palo Alto firewalls.

Expert knowledge of networking fundamentals including protocols, server/desktop environments, hardware/software, and management tools.

Understanding of network micro segmentation and application segmentation based on secure data flows.

Experience with Palo Alto policy design, review, implementation, and troubleshooting.

Strong understanding of necessary data flows between users, applications, and application to application communications.

Ability to write allow/deny policies based on validated criteria.

Ability to parse firewall log files and create rules based on validated data flows.

Strong understanding of security access rules, ACLs, source/destination rules, and policy definitions.

Understanding of protocol communication (control/response, active/passive ports) and how they apply to application and data communication rule sets.

Strong understanding of IP addressing and subnetting.

Management experience.

Ability to manipulate large datasets in Excel (vLookup, IF statements, AVERAGE, SEARCH, Pivot Tables, Sorting, Filtering, etc.).

Basic scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
