Position Summary

Sapio Sciences is looking for a strategic, hands-on talent leader to own the end-to-end hiring process for the company and its dual-brand structure across Sapio and Sigmatic Sciences. As we scale, the Director, Talent Acquisition will be responsible for attracting, engaging, and hiring exceptional talent, ensuring every leader has the right people in the right seats to grow their teams with confidence. This role blends strategy with execution: building a scalable, brand-forward recruiting function while personally driving searches for critical and senior roles. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to the executive team and hiring managers, anticipating workforce needs, elevating the candidate experience, and ensuring Sapio is known as a destination for top talent in life sciences software. Living the Sapio brand and building genuine, lasting relationships with candidates and internal stakeholders will guide all activities.

Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition Strategy & Ownership

• Own the full-cycle recruiting process end to end, from workforce planning and intake through sourcing, assessment, offer, and close, across all functions and geographies.
• Partner with the CPO and executive leadership to translate hiring plans and headcount forecasts into actionable recruiting strategies that keep pace with growth.
• Build and continuously improve a scalable talent acquisition function, including process, playbooks, and infrastructure that support efficient, high-quality hiring at scale.
• Establish and track recruiting KPIs, time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, pipeline health, offer acceptance, and source effectiveness, and report accurately to leadership and the board as needed.

End-to-End Recruiting Execution

• Personally lead and run searches for business-critical roles, going beyond basic coordination and acting as a true search partner.
• Develop proactive sourcing strategies to build diverse, high-caliber pipelines, including passive candidate outreach and market mapping.
• Manage a consistent, efficient interview and selection process that moves quickly without compromising on quality or fit.
• Ensure timely, thoughtful communication with candidates at every stage, protecting speed and experience simultaneously.

Leadership & Hiring Manager Partnership

• Serve as a strategic advisor to hiring managers and the executive team, guiding them on market realities, role design, leveling, and compensation in partnership with the People team.
• Coach and enable managers to run effective, structured interviews and make sound, timely hiring decisions.
• Anticipate the needs of teams as they grow and expand, staying ahead of demand rather than reacting to it.
• Align closely with the broader People function surrounding the onboarding hand-off, ensuring a seamless candidate-to-employee transition.

Employer Brand & Candidate Experience

• Champion Sapio’s employer brand in the market, positioning the company as an employer of choice within life sciences and scientific software.
• Design a candidate experience that reflects the Sapio brand, personable, respectful, and high touch at every interaction.
• Strive for a hiring experience that leaves every candidate, hired or not, as an advocate for Sapio.

Process, Systems & Efficiency

• Own, administer, and optimize Lever (ATS) as the system of record for all recruiting activity ensuring data integrity, clean pipeline hygiene, and accurate, real-time reporting.
• Continuously improve the recruiting process end to end, identifying bottlenecks and designing workflows, automation, and playbooks that drive speed and efficiency without sacrificing quality.
• Configure and evolve Lever to support the team as it scales building pipelines, stages, templates, and integrations that streamline the hiring workflow.
• Use data and market insight to measure process performance, inform strategy, and drive continuous improvement in time-to-fill, cost, and quality of hire.
• Ensure compliance with employment regulations and consistent, equitable hiring practices across all regions in which Sapio operates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full-cycle talent acquisition experience, including senior and executive-level recruiting, with time spent in a high-growth environment.
• Prior experience building or scaling a talent acquisition function, ideally within SaaS, or life sciences.
• Hands-on experience administering and optimizing an ATS (Lever strongly preferred).
• Experience recruiting across multiple geographies (US and international, UK/Europe, a plus).
• Experience partnering with executive stakeholders and supporting board- or PE-facing hiring priorities preferred.

• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills with candidates, hiring managers, and executive leaders.
• Excellent organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage a high-volume, high complexity req load.
• Data-driven mindset with deep proficiency in Lever or comparable ATS platforms and recruiting analytics.
• A process-improvement orientation — always looking to make the hiring engine faster, cleaner, and more efficient.
• Sound judgment on talent, leveling, and compensation.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a genuine commitment to a great candidate and hiring-manager experience.
