Job Summary

Ohio Wesleyan University seeks a dynamic and motivated Assistant Director of Admission to lead undergraduate recruitment and market development throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV). This remotely based position offers an exciting opportunity to expand OWU's regional presence, develop meaningful relationships with prospective students and key recruitment partners, and contribute directly to the University's enrollment growth. The Assistant Director will manage all aspects of recruitment within the assigned territory, from initial student engagement and application review through admission and enrollment. Working collaboratively with the campus-based enrollment team, this individual will develop and execute strategic recruitment initiatives, coordinate regional events, and identify new opportunities to strengthen OWU's visibility and market position. The position requires significant regional travel, independent territory management, and occasional travel to OWU's campus in Delaware, Ohio. Success will be measured through growth in prospective student engagement, applications, enrollment, and net tuition revenue from the region.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead undergraduate recruitment and market development throughout the DMV region, developing and executing a strategic territory plan designed to increase prospective student engagement, applications, admission, enrollment, and net tuition revenue.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, families, high school counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni through school visits, college fairs, presentations, individual outreach, and other regional engagement opportunities.
• Manage prospective students and applicants throughout the enrollment process, providing personalized admission counseling, reviewing applications, coordinating timely follow-up, and implementing strategies to encourage admitted students to enroll.
• Plan and execute regional recruitment and yield initiatives, including prospective student programs, admitted student events, counselor engagement opportunities, alumni-supported programming, and other market-specific activities.
• Collaborate with Enrollment Communications and campus partners to develop targeted recruitment strategies, digital and direct-mail campaigns, and regional messaging that highlights OWU's distinctive academic and co-curricular opportunities, including the Conrades School of Engineering.
• Monitor recruitment performance and regional market trends, maintain accurate student records in the University's CRM system, and regularly evaluate application activity, enrollment conversion, priority-school engagement, and net tuition revenue to inform recruitment strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• One to three years of professional experience in college admission, student recruitment, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal, written communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and develop effective recruitment strategies while collaborating with a remote team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage significant regional travel and a high-volume student caseload.
• Proficiency with CRM/database systems, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms, and related technology.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, school counselors, alumni, colleagues, and external partners from a variety of backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in undergraduate admission, territory management, or regional student recruitment.
• Familiarity with the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia higher education market, including regional high schools, school counselors, and college recruitment networks.
• Experience developing and executing recruitment events, student engagement initiatives, or market-development strategies.
• Experience using enrollment data, CRM systems, and recruitment metrics to evaluate performance and inform strategic decisions.
• Demonstrated success in building new relationships, developing recruitment pipelines, and increasing student engagement or enrollment within an assigned territory.

Additional Position Requirements:

The position is remotely based within the DMV region and requires frequent regional travel, including occasional evening and weekend commitments for recruitment activities. Travel to Ohio Wesleyan University's campus in Delaware, Ohio, will also be required.
