What You Will Be Doing

Shape the future of public service through mobile innovation. Join our dynamic Enterprise Applications team and take the lead in supporting and evolving the mobile applications that power essential services across the State of Alaska. As an IT System Administrator, you will help drive the mobile experience behind myAlaska—one of the State’s most widely used public-facing platforms. This is a unique opportunity to build a lasting career while contributing to high-impact, high-visibility services used by Alaskans every day, including the Permanent Fund Dividend application, Unemployment Insurance, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and more.

In this role, you will:

  • Support, publish, update, and manage the full lifecycle of the myAlaska mobile application and other statewide enterprise applications; ensuring that mobile services remain fast, reliable, and secure.
  • Maintain and monitor app store presence, compliance, and performance, providing clear metrics on usage and release activity.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise by working directly with business analysts, project managers, contractors, security teams, and department leadership to gather requirements and translate them into mobile and enterprise solutions that meet State standards.
  • Solve complex challenges by testing, validating, and troubleshooting across environments, coordinating certification processes, and ensuring release readiness.
  • Administer and support the underlying infrastructure that enables our applications—including virtual machines, containers, identity services, databases, operating systems, and cloud-native components.
  • Document with clarity and precision to maintain reliable records of system configurations, release procedures, and technical decisions—strengthening knowledge transfer and future-focused improvements.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

Who We Are Looking For

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

  • Object Technology: Knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, and techniques that use object-oriented languages, analysis, and design methodologies.
  • Computer Languages: Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions.
  • Database Management Systems: Knowledge of the uses of database management systems and software to control the organization, storage, retrieval, security, and integrity of data.
