Job Description

Your Impact As A Founding DVM Partner: This is more than a leadership role; it's an opportunity to build and lead a practice with the full backing of an established network. As the Founding Partner & Lead Veterinarian, you will be the cornerstone of the hospital, responsible for establishing a gold-standard medical culture, mentoring your team, and driving the business's success as a true owner. You'll have the rare opportunity to build an urgent care hospital where demand for convenient, high-quality veterinary care when pets need it most is backed by a well-educated, affluent community.

Build a Thriving Practice Culture

You will be the architect of a client-first, collaborative culture, setting the tone for medical excellence and teamwork from day one. In a community defined by well-educated professionals and devoted pet owners, your standard of care will set Livewell Leawood apart from day one.

Lead and Mentor Your Medical Team

Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing team of veterinarians and support staff building a hospital culture that attracts top talent and delivers outstanding urgent care to the pet-owning communities of Leawood, the Kansas City metro, and beyond.

Drive Medical and Surgical Excellence

Establish the hospital's standard of care, ensuring every patient receives exceptional medicine while mentoring your team in urgent case workups, in-house diagnostics, general surgery, dentistry, and evidence-based clinical decision-making. As a full-service urgent care hospital, your team will work up cases and perform surgery on site. You'll build a reputation as the trusted veterinary destination for pets across the Kansas City metro.

Partner in Business Ownership

Work directly with your Hospital Manager to manage the hospital's financial performance, making strategic decisions that drive top-line revenue growth and position the hospital as a long-term community resource.

Lead Extended-Hours Coverage

Work with your Hospital Manager to build the medical schedule that keeps the hospital open beyond typical clinic hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays with the right veterinary and technician coverage for urgent and emergent cases.

Shape the Future of Veterinary Care in Leawood

Help establish a purpose-built hospital designed to meet the needs of today's pet owners. With direct frontage and visibility to 20,000+ vehicles per day on State Line Road, more than 300,000 SF of retail across the street, and easy highway access, you'll have the platform to build something that lasts.

Built Different: The Livewell Model

Each Livewell location is carefully selected based on strong demographic, market, and growth data, to give each Founding hire and the hospital the best chance for long-term success. Livewell Animal Urgent Care of Leawood will be located at Leawood Village, a premiere mixed-use development in the heart of old Leawood, Kansas, featuring luxury apartments, high-end townhomes, retail shops, restaurants, and office space. Livewell Animal Urgent Care hospitals are full-service hospitals offering extended hours. Our veterinarians work cases and perform surgery on site, so pets that need prompt attention can be seen, diagnosed, and treated under one roof with the support of an established network behind the hospital. Leawood is part of the Kansas City metro, surrounded by established neighborhoods and anchored by major employers and institutions, including the University of Kansas Health System, St. Joseph Medical Center, Black & Veatch, C2FO, and Burns & McDonnell. With shopping centers such as Ward Parkway Center, Ranch Mart, Corinth Square, and Mission Farms nearby, this is a dense, educated, affluent population with the spending power and lifestyle to support premium veterinary care.

What You'll Bring to the Team

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and a license in good standing to practice. A minimum of 2+ years of experience as a veterinarian, with a strong foundation in general medicine, surgery, and dentistry. Willingness to work on a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, in line with the hospital's extended hours. A compassionate and collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor and develop associate veterinarians and support staff. An entrepreneurial spirit and a strong understanding of what it takes to run a successful practice. Previous formal leadership or management experience is a significant plus.
