Job Description

Primary Purpose

Helping the Cultural Connections Team in providing welcoming, dynamic community engagement, administrative support services for the Cultural Connection Center.

Cultural Connection Center (CCC)

A Christ-centered multicultural community designed to promote understanding, friendship, and shalom; And one of the CCC’s objectives is to program and host monthly events for the overall Bethel community.

General Requirements

  • Attend one-on-one meetings with staff.
  • Attends and engage in team meetings (once a month).
  • Attends OIX Student Leadership Retreats.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development held or encouraged by the Office of Inclusive Excellence.
  • Exhibit integrity through leadership and uphold Bethel's Covenant of Life Together.
  • Maintain privacy of departmental information.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the Covenant for Life Together at Bethel.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Demonstrates maturity and integration in spiritual, cultural, and emotional intelligence.
  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and some weekend events.
  • Demonstration of spiritual maturity and integrity.
  • Spiritual gifts or abilities may include leadership/management, encouragement, service, and administration.
  • Strong team player; good organization and follow-through with people and tasks.
  • Demonstration of a passion and love for working with college students while building connections/relations.
  • Experience with leading in a highly relational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Create a loving, welcoming, professional, and inviting atmosphere that encourages a sense of belonging to those that come into the Cultural Connection Center; welcome and greet students, faculty/staff, guests.
  • Provide administrative support which may include the following: Maintain the physical space (ensure space is clean, tidy, and fully stocked with necessary supplies and materials), writing on/cleaning off the dry erase board.
  • Assist in planning and executing programming and educational development opportunities for Bethel traditional undergraduate student body towards cultural engagement and developing cultural competency. Tasks may include: Reserve meeting rooms or vehicles, design and compile posters and other print materials, and post events and information on social media platforms.

Reporting relationship

Reports Directly to the AVP of Student Life or their designee.

  • Monthly meetings to discuss goals, responsibilities, and leadership development.

Time Commitment

6-10 hours a week throughout the fall semester. Flexible time frames as some weeks will be more hours, and some will be far less.

Evaluations

The Student Leader and Supervisor will do a written and verbal evaluation at the end of each semester.
