Mesabi Metallics, an Essar Group company, operates in the mining industry and is headquartered in Nashwauk, Minnesota. The company is building a state-of-the-art 7-million metric ton Direct-Reduction (DR) grade iron ore pellet plant and mine, backed by resources of 1.3 billion tons across more than 16,000 acres. Set to become commercially operational in 2026, the project will mark the first new mine and pellet plant in Minnesota in nearly 50 years. Mesabi’s DR grade pellets are designed to meet the growing demand of the Electric Arc Furnace market, strengthening U.S. supply chain security, reducing reliance on imported pellets, and supporting the decarbonization of steel production. The company currently employs more than 60 people.
