Web Developer (Remote)

Location: Technical Operations Division, Occupational Environmental Health Department, United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, 2510 5th Street, Bldg. 840, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433-7913

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Clearance Requirements: Tier 1 Background Investigation (Standard Form 85).

Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.

Period of Performance: 23 July 2026 – 24 June 2027

Total Compensation: $45.00 per hour.

Type of Employment: Independent Contractor (1099)

Working Hours

The Web Developer work schedule will normally be Monday through Friday, 0730-1630 Eastern Standard Time (EST), and will be 100% remote, except on Federal holidays. The Web Developer shall be available for work during the core working hours of 0900-1500 EST, Monday through Friday, except for Federal holidays, unless otherwise stipulated by the Human Performance Wing Support System (HPWS) Program Office.

Summary of Services

The Web Developer will support the Technical Operations Division of USAFSAM Occupational and Environmental Health Department (OE) by designing, building, and testing enhancements and sustainment capability for all OE modules within the Human Performance Wing Support System (HPWS). HPWS is a locally hosted web application built using Adobe ColdFusion 2023 Enterprise, Oracle 19c, and Microsoft SQL Server 2019.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and/or Computer Information Systems and four (4) years of Web development experience.
  • Any bachelor's degree and six (6) years' experience in Web development working with large web applications (ColdFusion preferred) and relational database development (Oracle preferred).
  • Any post-secondary education and eight (8) years of Web development experience working with large web applications (ColdFusion preferred) and relational database development (Oracle preferred).
  • Have work experience creating and updating Web applications using Adobe ColdFusion, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Familiarity with D3 data visualization JavaScript library is preferable.
  • Have work experience creating, reading, and understanding Oracle and procedural language (PL/SQL).
  • Have work experience in designing, building, and understanding relational database models.
  • Have work experience designing, building, and modifying relational database objects, including tables, views, sequences, triggers, procedures, and functions.
  • Have work experience creating, reading, and understanding complex SQL queries.
  • Have experience working with JavaScript and jQuery within Web applications, especially using jQuery AJAX transactions.
  • Have work experience performing system analysis and reverse engineering of existing systems.
  • Have work experience working throughout the entire software development lifecycle; from collecting and documenting requirements, to designing, building, testing, and deploying a complete web application.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English with project stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Write web application code using Adobe ColdFusion, Oracle PL/SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to create new modules or to enhance existing USAFSAM/OE modules within HPWS. This code shall be clean, understandable, and shall conform to standards established by the HPWS Program Office.

Web developers who are new to HPWS shall be required to complete a two- to four-week orientation period to introduce and acclimate them to the HPWS application framework.

Interact with USAFSAM/OE and the HPWS Program Office to obtain technical requirements for HPWS Web Development projects.

Participate in the creation of technical documentation for new projects within HPWS.

Produce new capabilities within OE HPWS modules, based upon information contained within functional requirement specifications provided by Wing customers and the HPWS Program Office.
