Job Description
Position: Online Microcredential Course Developer- AI Literacy and Application for Jewish Professionals
Location: Remote (U.S. based only)
Division: Rabb School of Continuing Studies in collaboration with the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program, Brandeis University
Compensation: $1,000 (Approximately 25 hours over 6 weeks)
Job Summary:
The Rabb School of Continuing Studies working in collaboration with the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program at Brandeis University is seeking an experienced academic and curriculum strategist to design a non-credit, instructor-facilitated hybrid microcredential course (asynchronous structure with student optional weekly synchronous engagement sessions).
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how organizations conduct research, communicate, make decisions, and deliver services. This microcredential equips Jewish professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively and responsibly leverage AI in their work.
Through real-world examples and hands-on activities, learners will explore how AI works, where it can create value, and how to collaborate effectively with AI systems. Participants will develop practical skills in research, analysis, communication, strategic planning, and decision support while examining ethical considerations through both professional and Jewish values-based frameworks.
Rather than focusing on any single technology platform, this course emphasizes enduring concepts and transferable skills that will remain relevant as AI tools continue to evolve. Learners will leave with a practical understanding of AI and a personalized framework for applying it within Jewish communal organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum & Design: Author and construct the course structure following the Brandeis Online Course Standards, including a Brandeis-compliant syllabus, instructor-led multimedia materials, learning objects, and outcomes-aligned assessments.
- Academic Quality: Serve as the subject matter expert responsible for the course's substantive content and pedagogical approach, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and market relevance.
- Collaboration & Timeline: Work closely with Brandeis Online staff and instructional designers, strictly adhering to LMS technical requirements and project milestones. Submit drafts progressively for iterative reviews and final approval.
Qualifications:
Education:
MA required, Ph.D. or equivalent credentials in AI, Machine Learning, Public Policy, or related fields.
Experience:
Work experience as an IT professional. Demonstrated substantial knowledge of AI, as well as expertise in both practical applications and critical understanding.
Technical & Professional Skills:
Proficiency with modern LMS platforms and digital content authoring tools. Superb structural writing, editing, and cross-functional communication abilities. Proven capacity to translate complex technical/policy paradigms into accessible, engaging student pathways.
Pay Range Disclosure
The University's pay ranges represent a good faith estimate of what Brandeis reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements.
