Technical Consultant / Sales Engineer - Print Level 3

Overview

HP is seeking talented Technical Consultants (Sales Engineers) to join our Presales organization. Technical Consultants serve as trusted advisors to customers, partners, and sales teams by providing technical expertise, solution design, business value articulation, and sales support throughout a customer's buying journey.

This Sales Engineer - Print 3 posting supports ongoing hiring needs across multiple Technical Consultant job levels and technology disciplines. Multiple positions are open that support either Enterprise or Public Sector markets within the US, and focused on one of the following HP solution stacks: Personal Systems (PS), Print, or Collaboration Solutions.

Successful candidates combine strong technical acumen, customer engagement skills, business understanding, and the ability to influence customer outcomes while helping drive revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers, partners, and account teams to understand business objectives and technical requirements.
• Design and present solution architectures aligned to customer goals.
• Deliver demonstrations, workshops, proof-of-concepts, and technical presentations.
• Translate technical capabilities into business outcomes and customer value.
• Support opportunity qualification and sales strategy development.
• Respond to technical requirements, proposals, and customer inquiries.
• Develop trusted advisor relationships with customer decision makers and technical stakeholders.
• Partner closely with sales, product management, engineering, marketing, and services organizations.
• Maintain expertise in HP solutions, industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to team knowledge sharing, mentoring, and best-in-practice development.
• Achieve assigned business objectives, including revenue, pipeline, customer satisfaction, and growth goals as applicable.

Typically serves as the primary technical resource for assigned accounts, territories, partners, or solution portfolios. Expected to:

• Lead technical discovery and solution development efforts.
• Demonstrated ability to authentically influence customer technology decisions.
• Drive complex technical sales cycles.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders.
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to team development.
• Deliver measurable business impact through revenue and pipeline growth.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 4-6 years of technical sales experience.
• Experience in presales, solution consulting, technical sales, engineering, IT, or related customer-facing technical roles.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
• Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred

• Industry certifications relevant to assigned technologies, such as Microsoft, security, cloud, and AI.
• Field technical sales experience serving end user customers and channel partners.
• Knowledge of collaboration, print, workplace, cloud, security, networking, endpoint, device management, AI, or related technologies.
• Experience developing technical sales strategies and supporting complex opportunities.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation range for the TC3 role is $150k to $175k USD OTE at an 80/20 split. Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
