At Cerby, software engineers are at the heart of driving technology and product innovation. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Access Management team, you will play a key role in building and scaling the foundations of Cerby's SaaS platform, used by customers and internal teams alike. This includes owning core capabilities such as application password management, secure vault systems, authentication protocol integrations with various IdP providers, asynchronous background workers for data synchronization, and graph-based RBAC systems for fine-grained permission control.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams while owning the quality, scalability, and security of the platform. You will help lead and drive a security-first engineering culture, enhance the product's user experience, and maintain high standards of software delivery. You are also expected to embrace AI as a core part of how we work, actively exploring and incorporating AI tools and practices into your daily development workflow to improve team efficiency and accelerate impact.

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on building and scaling SaaS applications.
Prior experience developing and maintaining Distributed Applications
Previous experience mentoring junior developers and conducting security-first code reviews
Technical Expertise:
Experience with designing, developing, and maintaining scalable SaaS applications in a high performance startup environment.
Expertise in core frontend technologies, including the browser API, client-side storage mechanisms (e.g., localStorage, IndexedDB), networking (e.g., fetch, XMLHttpRequest), and performance optimization.
Experience building scalable, high-performance React applications with Next.js for SSA (Single Page Application).
Experience with designing, consuming, and optimizing REST APIs with efficient data fetching strategies.
Experience working with design systems to ensure UI consistency, reusability, and scalability.
Proficiency in:
Expertise with React, Next.js, TypeScript and utility-first frameworks like TailwindCSS (familiarity with alternative frameworks and their tradeoffs is a plus).
Cloud platforms (ideally AWS).
Applying deep knowledge of frontend security best practices to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities such as XSS, CSRF, and CORS, implementing protections like Content Security Policy (CSP) to safeguard users and data.
Designing responsive, maintainable, and accessible UI components.
Writing unit tests, integrations tests, and component tests to ensure robustness and prevent regressions.
Building and maintaining component libraries that align with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
Software engineering practices such as Agile and Scrum, CI/CD, Collective Code Ownership.
Architecting and designing distributed, fault-tolerant, high-availability, and resilient systems.
Proven ability to instrument distributed systems with well-designed telemetry and observability code, including metrics, traces, and log management (prior experience with OpenTelemetry and Datadog a plus).
Ability to own and drive the software development from design through development, testing, delivery and production release. Writes maintainable code, high quality, scalable, and secure code.
Contribute to build application accessibility by following WCAG guidelines, ARIA roles, and screen reader optimizations to implement inclusive and compliant user experiences.
Nice to have:
Experience working with security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPPA, etc.)
Familiarity with encryption processes and key management is a plus.
Prior experience in cyber security and/or Identity and Access Management (IAM) a plus.
Prior experience in a venture funded high-growth SaaS startup preferred.
