Job Description

About the Role

A performance marketing agency working with universities and nonprofit organizations is hiring an SEO Content Editor to help strengthen the quality and performance of long-form SEO content, program pages, and AI-search visibility.

This role focuses on editing and optimizing long-form content (1,000–3,000+ words) and program pages to ensure it is clear, accurate, and aligned with SEO strategies that improve rankings, organic traffic, engagement, and visibility across traditional and AI-driven search (Google AI Overviews, featured snippets, People Also Ask, generative engines).

You'll work within SEO-driven content workflows — including content produced through AirOps — collaborating with the SEO team, content writers, and account teams to ensure articles meet high editorial standards and support search performance goals.

This is a remote role, working with a U.S.-based agency and paid in USD.

About the Agency

This agency works exclusively with universities and nonprofit organizations — partners doing work that improves communities and expands opportunity.

Their mission is simple:
Build a better agency for organizations building a better world.

The team combines strategy, creative thinking, and data-driven marketing to help partners achieve meaningful outcomes like enrollments, applications, inquiries, and awareness.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll focus on improving the quality and performance of SEO-driven content.
  • Edit and refine long-form SEO content and program pages (1,000–3,000+ words)
  • Ensure content is clear, well-structured, factually accurate, and professionally written
  • Optimize content to align with SEO strategy, keyword targeting, header structure, and internal linking
  • Structure and format content for AI-driven search visibility (AI Overviews, featured snippets, People Also Ask, generative engines) using entity-based SEO, semantic search, and E-E-A-T principles
  • Edit and quality-control AirOps-generated or AirOps-supported content, treating AI outputs as drafts requiring human editorial and SEO judgment
  • Refresh and re-optimize legacy content to address ranking decay
  • Use SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Clearscope/Surfer, Google Search Console, GA4) to guide edits and recommendations
  • Maintain high standards for grammar, clarity, and language quality
  • Collaborate with the SEO team, writers, and account teams to keep content moving through the workflow

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in SEO editing, content optimization, or digital editorial roles
  • Experience editing long-form SEO content and program pages (1,000–3,000+ words)
  • Demonstrated impact improving rankings, organic traffic, or engagement metrics
  • Strong command of on-page SEO: search intent, header structure, keyword integration, internal linking
  • Experience optimizing content for AI-driven search environments (AI Overviews, Featured Snippets)
  • Understanding of entity-based SEO, semantic search, and E-E-A-T principles
  • Proficiency with SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Clearscope/Surfer, Google Search Console, GA4)
  • 100% fluency in English (written and editorial quality)
  • Experience working with U.S. companies or English-speaking teams

Bonus Points

  • Experience working with higher education content
  • Experience editing content in highly regulated or research-heavy industries
  • Experience with AirOps or similar AI content workflows

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive USD compensation based on experience/scope
  • 100% remote role
  • Work that directly impacts organic search performance
  • Collaboration with a mission-driven marketing team
  • Opportunity to work on content that supports universities and nonprofit organizations

Why This Role Might Be a Fit

  • You’re passionate about clear, high-quality writing
  • You enjoy improving content so it performs better in search
  • You’re detail-oriented and care about editorial excellence
  • You enjoy working within structured content workflows
  • You want your work to support organizations that create real-world impact

Interview Process

  • Application Review – resume and relevant experience
  • Intro Call – background and SEO editing experience
  • First Interview with the Kanahoma Team – discussion about experience, workflow, and role alignment
  • Editing Exercise – review and edit a sample piece of content
  • Final Interview – team collaboration and overall fit
