Senior database engineer

IDT is looking for a rock star Database Engineer to join our database services team. If you are highly motivated, ambitious, ready to learn and make a direct impact, this is your opportunity!

The individual in this role will perform database analysis, design and administration functions to deliver on strategic projects specific to organizational goals. The ideal candidate would have in-depth experience with MongoDB / MySQL / Couchbase / PostgreSQL technologies in an enterprise environment.

To be successful in IDT's dynamic environment, qualified candidates must be self-motivated, work closely with others in a true team environment and be able to define, plan and implement long term goals and tasks in support of IDT's enterprise and technology organization charter. Excellent communication, problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills, logical thinking and attention to detail are required to work in this challenging and dynamic environment.

Primary responsibilities encompass full-lifecycle database administration, ranging from provisioning new MongoDB clusters, tuning replication, and handling backup and recovery to deploying software patches, managing schema changes, and collaborating with developers on collection, index, and SQL query design. The role also involves providing 24/7 support and participating in the DBA on-call rotation.

Requirements and Skills:

Required:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or equivalent with a minimum of 8-10 years of DBA experience
• Deep experience with MongoDB / MySQL / PostgreSQL databases
• Experience with databases hosted on Linux
• Database architecture and high availability solutions.
• Amazon RDS platform
• Troubleshooting application issues and database object design.

Nice to have:

• Prior experience with System / Network administration
• Oracle / CouchBase

It's okay if you are a MongoDB expert and don't have enough exposure to Oracle / MySQL technologies, we welcome deep expertise on the MongoDB platform.
