Senior Database Administrator
What you will be doing:
As a Senior DBA, you will take on a leadership role within the database team. In addition to managing and optimizing databases, you will mentor team members, oversee database projects, and make technical recommendations to improve performance and scalability. You will also have a more strategic role in planning and executing database initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead database management efforts, ensuring best practices for both on-premises and cloud-based systems.
- Design and implement disaster recovery, failover, and backup strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data availability.
- Perform advanced database performance tuning, including resource optimization and identifying long-term improvements.
- Lead and mentor DBAs, offering guidance on technical issues and helping to develop their skills.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and vulnerability management in both traditional and cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain SQL procedures, views, and scripts to support production and reporting systems.
- Collaborate with system administrators and other teams to perform capacity planning and manage database scalability.
- Provide leadership in troubleshooting complex database issues and drive incident resolution.
- Participate in cross-team strategic planning and product development meetings, offering technical expertise on database solutions.
Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years
Education:
Bachelors (Required)
Preferred Qualifications
Skills:
- Complex restore scenarios
- Expertise in managing RDBMS and cloud databases.
- Extensive experience with database performance tuning, disaster recovery, and failover techniques.
- Proven leadership in managing and mentoring teams, as well as leading database projects.
- Strong experience with SQL, database automation, and scripting for database administration tasks.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services, particularly within the Azure ecosystem.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to others.

Physical Demands:
Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Compensation:
Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $90,000 - $150,000.
