Description

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end processes. The role requires a detail-oriented and collaborative professional who can contribute to process improvement initiatives and support a fast-paced finance team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
    • Prepare, review, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports
    • Generate month-end financial reports with supporting notes, variance analysis, and schedules
    • Prepare journal entries and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
    • Support annual budgeting and forecasting activities
    • Support annual audit preparations and work closely with external auditors
    • Interface with sales to calculate sales commissions
    • Maintain accurate general ledger and assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
    • Process vendor payments including ACH, wire transfers, duty invoices, and year-end 1099 forms
    • Manage daily deposits and corporate credit card reconciliations
    • Review and approve vendor credit applications as needed
  • System Administration & Process Improvement
    • Serve as a key administrator for Great Plains software, including new user setup and system maintenance
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices within the finance team
    • Work with functional and station leaders to provide relevant financial reports and data analysis
    • Participate in finance team meetings, providing input for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Manage, mentor, and develop the team
    • Set department goals, monitor KPIs, and ensure alignment with company objectives
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Support special projects and ad hoc reporting requests from management.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • 1-4 years Audit / public accounting experience is required
  • Strong working knowledge US GAAP accounting, including intercompany transactions and eliminations, Financial reporting and consolidation and building account balance reconciliations
  • Knowledge of purchase accounting is a plus
  • Experience with Great Plains software strongly preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Clearly communicate department and individual initiatives / goals
  • Develop, monitor and review regularly metrics and goals with team members
  • Conduct performance appraisals; provide rewards and execute disciplinary actions/ workplace solutions for department staff
  • Accountable for recruiting and hiring process for new hire requirements

Location: Remote

Salary Range: $79,000 - $94,000
