Job Description

Position Summary

Regional Sales Manager Northeast is responsible for the successful management of total sales and expense objectives for a specified geographical area and assigned accounts. Accounts will include Northeastern grocery HQ based customers as assigned accounts. From an expense perspective, the Regional Sales Manager is accountable for all sales related expense management including travel, overhead, promotion/advertising, trade spend and broker commissions. This individual is responsible for managing a broker network, and a mix of direct and distributor supplied customers within the given geographical area.

Areas of Focus Within Assigned Territory:

  • Attainment of assigment Net Sales and profitability targets.
  • Application of Suja Company and customer specific sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Portfolio management, including new item launch execution and assortment initiatives.
  • Territory and customer trade and marketing program management and optimization
  • Responsible for all aspects of successful territory broker management
  • Development and maintainenance of business relationships within the entire selling network
  • Business management and fact based selling using category strategy and data driven insights
  • Leveraging Suja’s unique mission, high quality standards, and portfolio strengths daily

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and excel with in the role:

  • Achieve sales and expense budgets developed for the respective area of responsibility.
  • Review, evaluate and report data driven results against specific objectives on a continuous basis.
  • Work closely with regional and channel leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives within area of responsibility (promotional programs, distribution initiatives, etc.)
  • Provide ongoing sales and expense forecasting as requested. Participate on monthly planning calls.
  • Work closely with Director of Sales Planning in the ongoing management and evaluation of trade spending efficiency.
  • Effectively utilize all available data driven resources and tools to drive smart business decisions (IRI, SPINS, Retailer/Distributor Portal Data, Planful, Power BI, etc.)
  • Evaluation and management of a broker and distributor network within the sales division on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate with Marketing Department in the development of regional marketing strategies (digital and shopper marketing) as well as point-of-sale and related materials as appropriate.
  • Responsible for top trade customers located within sales division.
  • Participate in national and regional trade shows as well as maintaining an appropriate level of trade entertainment with divisional retail customers.
  • Work in partnership with all channel team members as well as across the various teams within the greater organization
  • Continually seek out professional development opportunities to refine skill set.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to cover customer, broker HQ, market tours, trade show/events, as well as company meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines when in the plant.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Eastern Regional Responsibilities:

  • Wegman’s, Tops, Price Chopper, Shaw’s, Associated Grocers of New England, Hannaford’s, Dave’s Marketplace, Roche Brothers, Big Y, Bozzuto’s as well as other assigned customers.
  • Responsible for all Eastern/Northeast Grocery regional customer development as assigned.
  • Active within the field, maintaining regular market tours and account meeting/review process.
  • Management and development of Northeastern broker network, providing focus for all assigned HQ and Field level broker team members.

Non-Essential Job Duties

May perform similar and incidental duties as required.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor-level studies.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of sales and sales management experience within the food industry. Solid background in managing multi-channel driven businesses.
  • Experience within the assigned customer and geography preferred.
  • Experience in both direct sales and broker/distributor management a plus.
  • Proven track record of developing territory and specific key account businesses.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial company will be considered an asset.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of US Retail Landscape– Natural/Specialty/Grocery/Mass/Club a plus.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Language Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Thrives in a team environment.

Major Business/Professional Contacts

Regular contact with corporate cross-functional partners, manufacturing Team Members, and the Leadership Team. Occasional contact with vendors.

Working and Environmental Conditions

The position will require 40% to cover customer, broker HQ, market tours, trade show/events, as well as company meetings. Typically functions in a remote office environment. Use of computer, keyboard, and telephone required. Requires sitting for extended periods. Requires time in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time.

COMPENSATION

$120,000-$145,000
