This role is ideal for a self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, collaborates effectively across teams, and consistently delivers high‑quality outcomes. You will play a critical part in optimizing cost, quality, compliance, and operational readiness — ensuring SFM maintains a competitive edge while supporting essential services across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier Negotiations — Plan, support, and conduct effective negotiations to secure optimal terms for SFM.
  • Supplier Performance Management — Partner with suppliers to ensure compliance with requirements, quality standards, delivery expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • KPI Ownership — Drive procurement KPIs including cost savings, cycle time reduction, supplier performance metrics, and operational readiness. Collaborate with internal teams to achieve department‑wide KPI targets.
  • Data & Reporting — Analyze procurement data, develop insights, and support reporting needs for leadership and risk management.
  • Market Research — Identify potential suppliers, assess capabilities, and evaluate performance to strengthen SFM’s vendor network.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Work closely with Operations, Finance, and field teams to forecast demand and ensure procurement alignment with business goals.
  • Urgent & Off‑Hours Support — Provide support for urgent procurement needs outside standard business hours as operational demands require.
  • Snow Season On‑Call — Serve as a designated member of SFM’s snow‑season on‑call team, coordinating suppliers, materials, and emergency needs to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Team Support — Maintain a positive attitude, assist in training new team members, and support other divisions when needed.

Qualifications

  • Procurement Expertise — Strong understanding of procurement best practices, contract management, and strategic sourcing.
  • Negotiation Skills — Proven ability to influence stakeholders and secure favorable outcomes.
  • Analytical Strength — Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Communication Excellence — Effective oral and written communication, active listening, and the ability to turn challenges into actionable requests.
  • Self-Starter Mindset — Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to team goals and department KPIs.
  • Technical Proficiency — Experience with procurement tools such as Smartsheet, Vendor Scout, Utilize Core, MyWork, and MS Office.
  • Continuous Improvement — Proactive problem-solving abilities and a commitment to improving processes, supplier performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Team Collaboration — Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
