The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.
This is an anticipated vacancy.
This position is expected to be available on July 28, 2026.
The Education Program Consultant performs work as assigned by the Office of Early Learning’s Director to support all statewide projects and activities related to the identification and/or development and implementation of programs to support the use of evidence-informed practices for early literacy, early mathematics and social-emotional development for preschool through grade 3. This includes communication, the development of resource materials, delivery of professional development, technical assistance, and systems-level coaching at the regional and district levels.

Recruitment Range: $63,927.00 - $88,910.00
Manager Preferences:
Knowledge of federal and state laws, and policies related to Read to Achieve and Early Education within the Preschool – Grade 5 continuum.
Knowledge of evidence-informed literacy practices aligned to the Science of Reading.
Experience conducting professional development virtually and in-person.

The Office of Early Learning (OEL) provides leadership, technical assistance, professional development, and other support to local education agencies for the implementation of evidence-informed practices in Preschool – Grade 3 programs, including the NC Early Learning Inventory. The OEL promotes the alignment of Preschool – Grade 3 program components to address the unique needs of young children and their families, with an emphasis on standards, curricula, assessment, and evidence-informed instructional practices.
