C2’s client, a Denver-based full-service marketing, public relations, and digital agency built on the belief that businesses run on relationships, seeks a Local SEO Strategist to audit and recommend solutions for a recently identified decline in local search performance across one or more client websites. Known for helping clients become known, gain customers, and grow their businesses, they are looking for an experienced SEO professional to provide an objective assessment grounded in current SEO best practices and informed by day-to-day success solving similar problems. If the recommendations prove successful, the engagement has the potential to grow into an ongoing implementation partnership. This is an opportunity for an experienced consultant who enjoys uncovering root causes, challenging assumptions with data, and delivering candid, actionable recommendations that help clients regain search visibility and confidence in their digital strategy.

Start Date: Within the next two to three weeks

Duration: Project-based contract with potential to extend into implementation work; hours vary based on project scope

Location: Remote, any U.S. time zone

Compensation: $40-$50/hr. as a W2 employee of C2

Benefits: C2 talent working 30+ hours/week for 30 consecutive business days are eligible for medical, dental, and optional vision insurance, life insurance and PTO accrual; 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match available for enrollment after 90 days.

The Local SEO Strategist serves as an experienced consultant, evaluating one or more client websites that have experienced a significant decline in local search performance. Working directly with the client’s digital marketing leadership, this role identifies the underlying causes of performance loss, evaluates the effectiveness of the current strategy, and delivers practical recommendations for recovery. Success in this role comes from combining deep technical SEO expertise with curiosity, sound judgment, and the confidence to provide objective, constructive feedback. The ideal consultant is comfortable evaluating another team’s work, communicating recommendations professionally, and helping clients make informed decisions about their next steps.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive local SEO audits across one or more client websites, evaluating technical, on-page, off-page, and local search factors
  • Investigate potential causes of declining search performance, including technical changes, budget shifts, and other contributing factors
  • Evaluate existing SEO strategies against current industry best practices
  • Develop clear, prioritized recommendations to improve local search visibility and business performance
  • Present findings and recommendations to client’s digital marketing team in a practical, actionable format
  • Answer questions, explain recommendations, and provide strategic guidance throughout the engagement
  • If requested, implement approved recommendations and measure ongoing performance improvements

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of professional SEO experience, including deep expertise in local SEO strategy and optimization
  • Demonstrated success diagnosing and improving local search performance for client websites
  • Agency or client-facing consulting experience presenting recommendations directly to clients and stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress and Google’s search ecosystem, including Google Search Console, Google Business Profile, Google Analytics, and related SEO tools
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive technical and strategic SEO audits and translate findings into practical, prioritized recommendations
  • Comfortable evaluating existing work and delivering candid, constructive feedback supported by data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Curious, analytical, and professional, with the confidence to recommend a change in direction when the evidence supports it
  • Experience implementing SEO recommendations following a successful audit engagement
