ABOUT US

For over 30 years, Partners in School Innovation has partnered with school districts to support the transformation of schools serving students furthest from success. Historically, our work has been funded by regional philanthropic investments and deeply trusted, relational partnerships that generated revenue through multi-year engagements. Today, we are expanding our reach. We have packaged our three decades of expertise into discrete, capacity-building service offerings designed for the mass K-12 market. We are looking for a strategic, mission-driven leader to help us test and improve our Go-to-Market strategy in a set of target districts and states, and to empower our team of expert coaches to convert leads into lasting partnerships.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead for Marketing & Sales Enablement will bridge the gap between marketing strategy and sales execution. You will refine and execute our first-ever mass-market marketing strategy to generate warm leads, while simultaneously coaching our existing school/district coaches to confidently guide those leads to a close. This role involves developing and executing comprehensive marketing campaigns that effectively communicate the value of our offerings to diverse audiences. You will collaborate closely with sales teams to create tools, training, and content that empower sales representatives to engage prospects confidently and close deals efficiently. Additionally, this position requires analyzing market trends, customer insights, and campaign performance data to continuously optimize strategies and ensure measurable impact. Ultimately, the role aims to enhance brand presence, streamline sales processes, and contribute significantly to the Partners’ growth objectives across our target markets.

This is a "player-coach" role requiring a mix of strategic K-12 marketing, sales enablement training, and direct K-12 sales experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. MARKETING STRATEGY & DEMAND GENERATION (40%)
    • Refine the Go-To-Market (GTM) Strategy: Build and execute a marketing plan tailored for launching our new discrete service offerings to K-12 schools, districts, and REA decision-makers (principals, superintendents, and curriculum directors).
    • Lead Generation: Implement cost-effective digital marketing, content marketing, and email campaigns to generate high-quality, inbound warm leads. Also collaborate with coaching staff to evaluate which conference, workshop, or writing opportunities best support the GTM strategy.
    • Collateral & Messaging: Develop compelling marketing assets, landing pages, and pitch decks that clearly communicate the value of our discrete services.
    • Marketing Performance: Develop a coherent marketing dashboard that represents the return on investment of different email, web, and other strategies.
  2. SALES ENABLEMENT & TEAM COACHING (40%)
    • Coach the Coaches: Act as an internal sales coach for our delivery team (who are education experts, not salespeople). Teach them how to hold discovery calls, address objections, and close deals without compromising their educator-first identities.
    • Build the Sales Playbook: Create templates, scripts, and step-by-step processes for handling warm leads, ensuring a seamless handoff from marketing to our regional coaches.
    • Pipeline Management: Establish and oversee a lightweight CRM system to help the coaching team track leads, follow-ups, conversion rates, and contributions to revenue (and margin).
  3. DIRECT SALES & RELATIONSHIP BUILDING (20%)
    • Lead Key Accounts: Personally manage high-leverage sales opportunities and complex district negotiations, especially in the early stages of the product rollouts.
    • Feedback Loop: Use direct sales interactions to refine our marketing messaging, product packaging, and pricing strategies.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (QUALIFICATIONS)

  • K-12 Industry Expertise (Non-Negotiable): You have at least 5 years of experience marketing or selling products or services directly to K-12 school districts. You understand their purchasing cycles, funding streams (Title I, ESSER, etc.), and decision-making structures.
  • The "Coach of Coaches" Mindset: You possess the emotional intelligence to train mission-driven educators to engage in sales. You can translate "sales" jargon into terms that resonate with school coaches.
  • Proven Marketing Track Record: Experience building and executing a B2B/B2G lead-generation strategy from scratch, ideally within a small- or mid-sized organization.
  • Tools of the Trade: Experience with brand development tools, CRM, social, and mass-marketing platforms.
  • Comfort with Ambiguity: We are a lean, 14-person team transitioning to a new business model. You should thrive in a build-as-you-go environment.
  • Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to educational equity and supporting schools furthest from academic success.

Why Join Us? This role offers the unique opportunity to build a growth engine from the ground up for an organization with a proven, 30-year track record of impact. You will directly scale our ability to support thousands of students who need it most, combining the heart of a nonprofit with the strategic rigor of a modern social enterprise.

Partners in School Innovation is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We believe that diverse perspectives strengthen our work and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive.
