Job Description

KlariVis is a data intelligence platform built by former bankers for financial institutions. We are passionate about solving the data and AI conundrum in the banking industry. We believe that the strength of our company lies in the strength of our people, and we are looking for empowered individuals to join our team. We're looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join our data and analytics team at KlariVis. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to work at the intersection of data engineering and machine learning — building the pipelines, data structures, and infrastructure that power the analytics products used by our customers.

You'll work directly with senior engineers and data scientists across the full lifecycle: preparing and modeling data, supporting the build and diagnostics of machine learning models, and helping push validated work into production. This is a great fit for a recent graduate who combined Computer Science with Machine Learning coursework and wants real-world, hands-on experience — not a theoretical or purely academic role. KlariVis is headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia.

KlariVis offers a competitive compensation package including salary, medical, dental, HSA health benefits, 401(k) match, and flexible time off. NOTE: Applicants must be currently based and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. KlariVis does not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Requirements

Required Experience & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, or a closely related field (recent graduates welcome); a Master's degree in a related field (CS / Data Science) is a plus.
  • Strong coding skills in SQL and Python — non-negotiable.
  • Academic or project experience building machine learning models (coursework, capstone project, research, or personal projects).
  • Solid understanding of the ML workflow: how data is prepared, how models are built and diagnosed, and what it takes to move a model into production.
  • Working knowledge of virtual machines and cloud computing environments (Azure preferred).

Preferred Experience & Knowledge:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (stored procedures, functions, performance tuning).
  • Exposure to Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and basic CI/CD concepts.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to explain technical work to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A hands-on, execution-oriented mindset — comfortable writing code and directly building solutions rather than just designing on paper.
  • Strong ability to operate independently without close supervision, while collaborating effectively as part of a team — both are must-haves.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn in a fast-moving, real-world data environment.
  • Ownership mentality — follows through on tasks with minimal hand-holding.
  • Comfortable asking questions and collaborating with more senior engineers.
  • Detail-oriented, especially around data quality and correctness.
