Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design and operate secure, mission-critical infrastructure that supports advanced software platforms used in complex operational environments.

You will work across cloud-native systems, edge deployments, automation pipelines, and security-focused infrastructure initiatives.

The position requires a strong engineering mindset, combining hands-on development with infrastructure architecture and operational excellence.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, security, and compliance teams to build reliable systems that perform under demanding conditions.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership of complex technical challenges, and builds scalable solutions from the ground up.

This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to technology that improves collaboration, decision-making, and operational effectiveness.

Accountabilities:

The Infrastructure Engineer will own the design, development, deployment, and reliability of secure production infrastructure across cloud and edge environments. This role requires strong technical ownership, collaboration across teams, and the ability to build resilient systems that support critical workflows.

  • Design, develop, test, iterate, and deploy secure production systems across cloud-native platforms and edge appliance environments.
  • Own infrastructure outcomes for critical programs and high-priority initiatives, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational readiness.
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes-based platforms, including cluster operations, networking, storage, and multi-environment deployments.
  • Develop and improve artifact pipelines to ensure secure, signed builds can be deployed consistently across cloud, restricted, and disconnected environments.
  • Partner with engineering, product, security, governance, and compliance teams to establish infrastructure and deployment best practices.
  • Implement security-focused improvements, including identity management, network segmentation, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance readiness.
  • Support operational requirements in regulated environments by contributing to audit preparation, security controls, and infrastructure hardening efforts.
  • Review and contribute to production code, technical documentation, RFCs, and product requirements to improve platform capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure challenges and develop long-term solutions that improve system performance and resilience.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced infrastructure professional with strong DevOps, cloud, security, and software engineering capabilities. They should be comfortable operating independently, solving complex problems, and delivering reliable solutions in fast-moving technical environments.

  • 5+ years of experience operating production infrastructure in DevOps, DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud, or Infrastructure roles.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes in production environments, including operators, networking, storage, and multi-cluster operations.
  • Professional experience with major cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure, including designing solutions across different environments.
  • Strong programming skills and experience building or maintaining production services using modern backend languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure and application security principles, including identity, access controls, network security, secrets management, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience designing solutions from scratch, integrating complex systems, and contributing to existing codebases.
  • Experience packaging and deploying applications into disconnected, restricted, or air-gapped environments.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to operate effectively with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Nice-to-have experience includes government cloud environments, FedRAMP, IL4/IL5/IL6, JWICS, SOC 2 audits, distributed data systems, or defense and intelligence environments.

Benefits:

Competitive compensation based on experience level:

  • Senior Infrastructure Engineer: $180,000 – $220,000 plus equity.
  • Staff Infrastructure Engineer: $205,000 – $255,000 plus equity.
  • Principal Infrastructure Engineer: $240,000 – $290,000 plus equity.

Equity opportunities allowing employees to share in company success.

Remote-first work environment with flexible working hours.

Unlimited paid time off (PTO).

Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.

401(k) retirement plan with company match.

Paid parental leave of 8 weeks at full pay regardless of state.

Annual company retreat opportunities.

$1,000 annual home office budget to improve remote work setup.

Opportunity to work on impactful technology supporting important operational missions.

Collaborative environment with experienced professionals from technology, military, and operational backgrounds.
