Sam: The Support Platform for Women
Sam is seeking a Head of Marketing & Communications to build on our existing marketing efforts and help grow the company.
We are looking for someone who is equal parts right- and left-brained (we know this is hard to find!). Someone who is deeply creative but also analytical and data-driven. You can develop a strategy, create compelling content, understand what the numbers are telling us, and make smart decisions about where to focus.
This is a hands-on leadership role, not an advisory or conceptual one. You'll work directly with Sam's Founder/CEO as part of a close, tight-knit team. We have a strong foundation in place and are looking for someone who can build on it, bring fresh ideas, and help us grow.
The right person will have excellent judgment, strong creative instincts, and the ability to get things done. You don't need to do everything yourself, but you need to know what matters, how to prioritize, and how to move our work forward.
You want to do something meaningful with your talents and have some fun while doing it.
You have operated in start-up or early-stage environments and are comfortable working with constrained resources while maintaining high standards.
You understand the need for Sam, perhaps personally. You understand what women are navigating and why access to reliable, accessible support is a huge market need.
You are organized, reliable, and rigorous. You enjoy taking initiative, following through.
You have 8 to 10 years of substantive experience in marketing and communications, ideally with consumer, mission-driven, or women-focused brands.
You are equal parts creative and analytical: with strong creative instincts and comfortable with data, metrics, and measuring results.
You are hands-on. You can write well, create high-quality social media assets, manage campaigns, and execute without relying on a large team.
You have meaningful experience in lifecycle marketing and understand how to attract, engage, and retain customers.
You have experience with media relations and PR pitching and know how to get a story noticed.
You are a sophisticated communicator and creative, with a clean, intelligent writing voice and strong editing sense.
You have an eye for women-trusted products and brands and understand how detail and consistency build brands.
You are deeply attuned to the zeitgeist and to women's lived realities. You pay attention to culture.
We believe women deserve real support across every part of their lives. Whether navigating a career change, caring for loved ones, managing relationships, or figuring out what's next, Sam brings trusted Experts, practical guidance, and personalized support together in one place.
Sam offers:
With 75+ vetted Experts (and growing), no subscriptions, and no long-term commitments, Sam makes it easier for women to get the support they need, when they need it.
Our mission is to support women.
At Sam, we believe in the importance of human connection, judgment, and human-led care. We do not use AI to write customer-facing content or to provide support to women. Our communications are written by people, and the support we offer comes from real people.
We expect the same commitment to original thinking, writing, and creativity from the person in this role.
This is an equity-only leadership role at this stage, with the intention to convert to a full-time salaried position with competitive compensation upon successful funding. The expectations and accountability are those of a senior functional leader, not an advisory or side engagement.
