GIS Analyst (Planning and Design Engineer)

Location: Remote

Salary: $25.18-$27.13/hr.

Description of Role:

SRI Telecom is seeking a GIS Analyst with an understanding of OSP mapping (reading and/or drafting) experience to contribute to the success of managing and updating mapping databases. The successful consultant will be responsible for performing geospatial analysis, interpreting as-builts, working with several teams to map projects and working with the ArcMap/ARCGIS program.

Tasks:

  • Design and develop geographic boundaries for different teams (construction, marketing, legal).
  • Review and interpret as-built drawings for accuracy, completeness and quality.
  • Analyze large GIS data sets and build as-hoc reporting for leadership.
  • Identify when a walkout may be needed for more information and request and manage that walkout.
  • Review completed GIS data for errors and efficiency.
  • Ensure GIS specifications are maintained.
  • Research and utilize field notes to ensure accuracy of spatial data and make recommendations for mapping projects.
  • Create and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
  • Supports Specialists and leadership team with fiber design documents.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Experience with reviewing utility as-built maps (fiber, telco, etc.) to identify current routes and splice points.
  • Knowledge of the ArcMap/ARCGIS program(s).
  • Experience in OSP construction, fiber construction, copper construction, utility construction.
  • Knowledge of easement, right-of-way theory.
  • Competence in design methodology, process, and metrics.
  • Must be able to navigate the use of a laptop and multiple sources of data (Google Maps, CAD, system maps).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understands end-to-end process and enforces compliance to the process across all involved organizations.
