What is your new project?

Marti Health is a physician-led, value-based healthcare company improving care coordination and engagement for people living with sickle cell disease and other underserved populations.

What makes this project exciting?

The Role

Marti Health is seeking a hands-on Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to help stabilize, develop, and scale its healthcare platform. The role is intentionally balanced:

  • 50% Full-Stack Product Engineering — patient and care-management applications, workflows, UI/UX, APIs, and feature delivery.
  • 50% Backend, Cloud & Integration Engineering — AWS, data, healthcare interoperability, DevOps, security, and reliability.

The engineer should be comfortable owning functionality end to end: UI → API → database → cloud → monitoring → production support. Reports to the Chief Technology Officer and works closely with Product, Clinical, Operations, and external partners.

What makes you a great fit

  • 5+ years of production software-engineering experience.
  • Strong React/TypeScript/JavaScript front-end experience.
  • Strong Node.js/TypeScript, Python, or comparable backend experience.
  • Strong REST API, SQL, and PostgreSQL experience.
  • Hands-on AWS and Docker/container experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD and production application support.
  • Experience with authentication, authorization, security, asynchronous processing, and failure handling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across the full stack.

Preferred Experience

Healthcare or regulated-environment experience, particularly with:

  • HIPAA
  • PHI
  • FHIR R4/US Core
  • HL7/ADT
  • HIE/QHIN
  • payer integrations
  • claims/eligibility data
  • ECS/Fargate
  • Aurora
  • S3/SQS/EventBridge
  • CloudWatch
  • IAM/KMS/Secrets Manager
  • GitHub Actions
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • clinical workflows
  • value-based care
  • Amazon Bedrock

Your day-to-day in this position

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain patient-facing and care-management applications using React/TypeScript or similar technologies.
  • Develop backend services, APIs, asynchronous workflows, and PostgreSQL-based applications.
  • Improve enrollment, care plans, assessments, clinical workflows, communications, dashboards, and administrative capabilities.
  • Build integrations with payers, HIEs, QHINs, and healthcare partners using REST APIs, FHIR R4, HL7/ADT, C-CDA, SFTP, and file-based interfaces.
  • Implement data validation, patient matching, reconciliation, provenance, duplicate handling, and exception workflows.
  • Build and operate AWS services including ECS/Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, SQS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
  • Strengthen CI/CD, automated testing, environment separation, deployment, rollback, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
  • Implement HIPAA-appropriate security, role-based access, PHI protection, audit logging, and secrets management.
  • Support governed AI-enabled workflows while maintaining appropriate human clinical oversight.
  • Build reusable platform and integration capabilities that support additional payers, states, and clinical programs without creating separate codebases.

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Stabilize production patient and care-management workflows.
  • Resolve high-priority application and usability defects.
  • Strengthen authentication, authorization, and PHI handling.
  • Improve CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, and rollback.
  • Complete development, test/UAT, and production separation.
  • Expand application and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Improve payer/HIE ingestion, error handling, and reconciliation.
  • Make long-running workflows resilient and observable.
  • Reduce dependence on undocumented or single-person operational knowledge.

Why work with us?

  • People-first management with minimal bureaucracy.
  • A friendly company culture, proven by employees who choose to return.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • 29 days of PTO (18 working days per year plus all national holidays).
  • 10 paid recovery days.
  • Full financial and legal support for independent contractors.
  • Free English classes, with native speakers or Ukrainian teachers.
  • Dedicated HR support.
