Job Description

HEPCO is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support federal IT operations and maintenance. This primarily remote position requires occasional onsite work in Washington, DC, and Sterling, Virginia. Candidates must currently reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan/DMV area to be considered.

The selected candidate will provide hands-on Oracle database administration, production support, troubleshooting, security, performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, migrations, and upgrades within a mission-critical environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Current active Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Current residence in the Washington, DC metropolitan/DMV area.
  • At least 7 years of Oracle DBA or Oracle-related experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting Oracle 11g and/or 12c.
  • Hands-on Oracle 19c RDBMS production implementation experience.
  • Experience with Oracle 11g-to-19c upgrades.
  • Strong SQL skills.

  • Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • GoldenGate.
  • Data Guard.
  • Recovery Manager (RMAN).
  • Oracle patching.
  • Database security.
  • Performance tuning.
  • Backup and recovery.
  • Replication.
  • Production troubleshooting.
  • Oracle migrations and upgrades.
  • Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.
  • Custom monitoring and reporting.

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Oracle 19c/21c GoldenGate Hub.
  • Exadata.
  • Sun SuperCluster.
  • Oracle containerization.
  • Oracle private or public cloud environments.
  • Federal IT or government database environments.
  • Database Operations Lead experience.
  • Technical leadership and mentoring junior DBAs.

Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following combinations:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate degree and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or GED and 12 years of relevant experience.
