About the job
As the Controller, Finance Operations, you will own the integrity of LBR's financial operations — from monthly close through investor and lender reporting. This individual will work closely with the President to maintain institutional-grade financial discipline while leveraging LBR's already-automated finance infrastructure, including our ERP, accounting systems, and financial planning processes. This is an opportunity for an exceptional Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting Manager to step into their first Controller role, with meaningful exposure to future financing initiatives, strategic transactions, and the continued evolution of the company. This position reports directly to the company's President. This position is 100% remote. Standard business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be based and authorized to work in the US within the EST timezone.
Compensation
Up to $150,000 base salary + variable bonus structure.
Responsibilities
- Financial Close & Reporting: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Own accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. Own the day-to-day accounting function while leveraging our existing automation and ERP systems.
- Working Capital & Financial Controls: Own working capital management, including cash flow visibility, receivables, payables, and liquidity planning. Own the integrity of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls. Strengthen internal controls and continuously improve financial processes without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Audit, Compliance & Strategic Support: Lead the annual audit and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors. Prepare reporting packages for executive leadership, lenders, and potential investors. Support due diligence for debt financing, acquisitions, or future strategic transactions.
- Leadership & Partnership: Serve as a trusted financial partner to executive leadership, ownership, lenders, and future investors by delivering timely, accurate financial information and maintaining institutional-grade financial discipline. Lead the accounting function by setting high standards for accuracy, accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA required.
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in a private equity-backed portfolio company or another professionally managed, high-growth company with institutional financial discipline.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience leading annual audits and working with external accounting firms.
- Demonstrated success managing working capital and cash flow.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- A hands-on, ownership mindset with a desire to continuously improve processes.
- Experience in professional services, technology-enabled services, SaaS, or recurring revenue businesses preferred.
- Experience supporting lender reporting, financing activities, or transaction due diligence preferred.
- Experience leading a lean, high-performing accounting function preferred.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
