The Business Manager oversees and manages the complete financial and administrative operation of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture (SSA). The position is responsible for the financial and operational activities that support the instruction, research, and outreach missions of the School. The Business Manager, reporting to the Director of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, must exercise sound judgement in making financial and operational decisions.
Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork, equality and inclusiveness.
Work in partnership with colleagues within the CNS community and across the campus to support the Dean’s strategic priorities.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the SSA and CNS.
An associate's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the accounting or financial planning/management field OR a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the accounting or financial planning/management field OR a master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business field and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the accounting or financial planning/management field.
In depth, working knowledge of spreadsheet software applications and competence in running queries in computerized database.
Ability to work effectively, prioritize and be flexible in a high-paced environment.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner, working while balancing demands of concurrent with potentially competing deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Previous experience in an academic environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
Knowledge of University finance procedures as well as general purchasing, budgetary, and accounting practices.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning platforms (like SAP or PeopleSoft) and electronic workflows.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
Required to work occasional evenings and weekends to support deadlines.
This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
