The Office of International Services is seeking an Assistant Director, International Employee & Scholar Services. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Office of International Services (OIS) within the Division of Student Affairs, is a mission-driven, collaborative team that supports Oregon State University’s global community through advocacy, education, service, outreach, and engagement. OIS serves as a central university resource for international students, employees, scholars, visitors, hiring units, and campus partners, helping advance OSU’s internationalization efforts and the free exchange of ideas and cultures. Learn more about OIS at the Office of International Services website.
The Assistant Director, International Employee and Scholar Services role offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful, high-impact work that supports OSU’s ability to recruit, hire, and retain international employees and scholars. The successful candidate will join a team that values compliance, service excellence, problem-solving, and strong partnerships across the university, while helping provide clear guidance and operational support in a complex and evolving immigration environment. OIS is identified as OSU’s central resource providing advising on visa and immigration matters for international students, employees and scholars.
This position coordinates day-to-day case management and operations for H-1B, TN, and E-3 petitions, including intake, case assignment, timeline tracking, complex case analysis, petition preparation, and stakeholder communication.
The role also coordinates I-140 petition preparation for Director review and assists the Director in operations management and analysis of employment-based permanent residency pathways.
In consultation with the Director, this position partners with hiring units, HR, payroll, General Counsel, outside counsel, and other campus stakeholders to resolve eligibility, documentation, timing, outsourcing and compliance issues.
The position helps maintain accurate, timely, and audit-ready immigration petition filings by developing Standards of Practice (SOPs), templates, checklists, workflows, internal controls, and quality assurance processes.
The role also monitors regulatory and policy updates and recommends process improvements, and risk mitigation.
The position provides backup subject-matter support related to J-1, O-1 regulations, and employment-based permanent residency pathways as needed.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Full time. Flexible Work Arrangement: In-person/Hybrid modality preferred, but a fully remote option may be considered.
Involves working within an office environment where sitting for extended periods of time may be typical.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability, protected veteran, and other protected status. OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.
OSU is a fair chance employer committed to inclusive hiring. We encourage applications from candidates who bring a wide range of lived experience including involvement with the justice system. If this position has “critical or security-sensitive” responsibilities and/or driving duties and you are selected as a finalist, your initial job offer will be contingent upon the results of a job-related pre-employment check (such as a background check, motor vehicle history check, sexual misconduct reference check, etc.). Background check results do not automatically disqualify a candidate. Take a look at our Background Checks website including the for candidates section for more details. If you have questions or concerns about the pre-employment check, please contact OSU’s Employee and Labor Relations team at employee.relations@oregonstate.edu.
