We are searching for a Area Director with 10+ years’ experience as a Licensed Structural Engineer with evaluation experience. The position will be responsible for the assessment of commercial, institutional, and industrial structures throughout the Midwest. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing structural and building failure analysis, evaluations on damaged structures, and/or conducting facilities/building condition assessments. Additional experience in mentoring of staff and client management required.

Key Accountabilities

Individual Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate the condition and potential cause of distress to a wide range of structural buildings and facilities.
  • Perform field investigations of site conditions and subsequent analyses of structural components.
  • Produce written reports detailing findings of investigations, including conceptual repair recommendations.
  • Manage and mentor engineering staff.
  • Develop client relationships within region.

Team Responsibilities

  • Work with an inter-disciplinary team of engineers and construction consultants as part of investigations.
  • Receive mentoring from senior engineering staff and provide mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Work with engineering staff to provide technical mentorship.

Marketing/Business Development Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain client relationships through projects and team related activities within the region.
  • Bring in existing and new clients within the industry.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Licensed Structural Engineer (S.E.) in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural analysis and design of structures (buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, etc.) or building envelope systems.
  • BS degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering or Architecture.
  • MS degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering or Architecture is a plus.

SKILLS:

  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite, structural analysis software, and drafting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be physically able to perform investigations in the field (including climbing ladders, carrying inspection tools, stooping, kneeling, etc.).
