This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant – Pack Leader based in United States.
This role combines senior-level accounting expertise with hands-on team leadership and client-facing responsibility. You will oversee a team of accountants while owning the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of financial deliverables for U.S.-based restaurant and multi-unit clients. The position goes beyond traditional bookkeeping, requiring strong judgment, independent problem-solving, and accountability for outcomes. You will manage month-end close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, workflows, and quality control while supporting client relationships and business insights. As accounting processes become increasingly automated, you will play an important role in improving systems, adopting AI-enabled tools, and developing into a trusted accounting leader. The ideal candidate is confident, adaptable, curious, and comfortable making decisions in situations where professional judgment is required. This is an opportunity to combine accounting leadership, operational ownership, technology, and client service in a growing environment.
Accountabilities
- Lead and supervise Staff Accountants by assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring deadlines, coaching team members, providing feedback, and maintaining accountability for team outcomes.
- Develop the technical and professional capabilities of junior accountants through mentoring, regular check-ins, and guidance on accounting, systems, and client service.
- Take ownership of accounting, operational, and client-related issues, researching solutions, making sound judgment calls, implementing resolutions, and escalating only when necessary.
- Organize daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual workflows across multiple client accounts while maintaining visibility into deliverables and outstanding items.
- Rebalance workloads, prevent work from stalling, close communication loops, and provide proactive updates to internal stakeholders.
- Oversee bookkeeping and accounting activities for U.S.-based restaurant and multi-unit clients, including transaction coding, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Own and review assigned Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and other financial reporting.
- Identify unusual balances, missing information, discrepancies, and classification errors, resolving issues independently whenever possible.
- Lead month-end close processes, ensure reconciliations and supporting documentation are complete, and prepare financial information for quality control reviews, hard closes, and audits.
- Apply practical accounting judgment that balances accuracy, consistency, technical requirements, business context, and client needs.
- Develop into an increasingly client-facing accounting leader by communicating financial information clearly to restaurant owners, operators, and other financial stakeholders.
- Partner with Relationship Managers to prepare client-ready financial statements, analysis, and insights for review meetings.
- Collaborate with U.S.-based accountants, Relationship Managers, Quality Control Leads, and internal support teams to coordinate deliverables, surface risks, and resolve issues.
- Document accounting workflows and maintain SOPs while identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, close speed, communication, reporting, visibility, and quality control.
- Use technology and automation to improve accounting efficiency, including advanced QuickBooks Online capabilities, Restaurant365, and approved AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
- Review and validate AI-generated outputs before they are incorporated into client files or financial reporting, applying professional accounting judgment throughout the process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7–10+ years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience, with candidates possessing 10+ years or deeper relevant experience strongly encouraged to apply.
- CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting certification.
- Demonstrated experience supervising accounting or bookkeeping professionals, including assigning work, managing deadlines, reviewing output, providing corrective feedback, and taking responsibility for team performance.
- Strong knowledge of Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, financial reporting, accrual accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and U.S. accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced, hands-on QuickBooks Online expertise with the ability to work independently, troubleshoot accounting issues, perform reconciliations, review transaction coding, understand account structures, and analyze financial statements.
- Ability to clearly explain the reasoning behind accounting entries, classifications, and financial decisions.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with communication skills suitable for increasingly client-facing responsibilities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and workflow management.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong professional judgment, independent problem-solving ability, ownership, and follow-through.
- Confidence communicating with both entrepreneurial and corporate clients, including the ability to guide conversations, remain composed under pressure, and identify the underlying issue behind a client's question.
- Strong relationship-building skills and executive presence.
- Restaurant365 experience is preferred but not required; training can be provided to an otherwise exceptional candidate.
- Experience supporting U.S.-based clients, restaurants, franchises, hospitality businesses, multi-location organizations, outsourced accounting, or professional services is an advantage.
- Experience with client accounting meetings, SOP development, process improvement, accounting automation, or AI-enabled professional workflows is a plus.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week with strong and consistent overlap with U.S. business hours, with reasonable flexibility for client and team needs.
