Responsibilities
- Analyze complex accounting transactions and resolve challenging accounting issues.
- Prepare and review detailed journal entries and maintain a complete, accurate general ledger.
- Generate, assess, and present comprehensive financial statements and internal/external reports.
- Enhance and monitor internal controls over financial reporting, recommending process improvements.
- Develop and maintain supporting documentation and work papers for all accounting processes.
- Serve as a resource to less-experienced accountants, providing functional advice and informal training.
- Research technical accounting guidance and stay updated on regulatory changes.
- Evaluate existing accounting policies, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs and standards.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline (minimum three accounting courses) with five years of accounting experience OR bachelor’s in accounting with three to five years’ accounting-related experience.
- 2-4 years of advanced Excel experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, MBA, or other advanced business degree.
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Experience in utility accounting, public accounting, or SEC reporting.
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Demonstrated research skills in technical accounting guidance.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
