People Operations Manager

Pay: $70,000-$75,000

Location: Phoenix, AZ, on-site travel between UMOM Campuses

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends

Be the HR partner supervisors trust when it matters most. At UMOM New Day Centers, our mission is to end family homelessness by restoring hope and rebuilding lives. Our staff show up for families every day, around the clock. We're looking for a People Operations Manager to show up for them.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced HR professional who wants real ownership. You've sat with managers in hard conversations and helped them get it right. You'll be the go-to person for employee relations, leaves, benefits, and HR systems, and you'll help shape a growing People Operations team from the ground up.

What you'll do

• Coach supervisors through attendance, performance, and corrective action conversations, and guide them through terminations with care and consistency.
• Manage leaves, accommodations, and benefits so employees get clear answers and the support they need.
• Own our HR system and people data, including implementations and upgrades, so information is accurate and Finance has what it needs for payroll.
• Keep us compliant, from fingerprint clearances and E-Verify to the annual review of our policies and handbook.
• Grow the team by guiding our People Operations Coordinator and cross-training with our Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist.

What you bring

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years advising managers directly on employee relations
• Hands-on employee relations experience, including coaching managers and preparing for terminations
• Experience administering FMLA and ADA leaves and accommodations
• Experience administering employee benefits
• Working knowledge of employment law, including Arizona law

Nice to have

• PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification. Not certified yet? We'll cover your exam fees, with certification expected within 12 months.
• Experience supporting an HRIS implementation
• Nonprofit, human services, or multi-site experience
