POSITION SUMMARY
A member of the Community HealthCare System, Inc. acute hospital team whose primary focus is managing the operational aspects of providing services to patients, physicians, and staff during assigned shift.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Identify direct patient care improvement opportunities.
- Through mentoring and modeling the professional nurse role, strengthen direct care staff's professional nurse/aide role in patient care.
- Identify needs, assure development of, implementation of competency-based programs and verify competencies have been learned and are being used.
- Assure compliance with department service and hospital standards.
- Develop a strong patient care culture by identifying underlying staff issues and concerns, work through issues to resolution, and represents/advocates staff with supervisor and administration.
- Monitor patient satisfaction (oral and written) and develop and implement corrective goals.
- Assure regulatory compliance and readiness.
- Develops acute and swing bed clinical goals and helps attain achievement of both systemwide and departmental goals.
- Primary accountability for monitoring clinical care and clinical indicators and recommend performance improvement processes as needed.
- Provide direct supervision of staff on duty identifying issues and needs and obtaining reasonable fixes.
- Coordinate work of staff nurses and aides, case managers, social workers, respiratory care practitioners and other personnel to assure quality, patient centered care.
- Assess staff's knowledge, skills and abilities during the annual performance development process including but not limited to developing competencies/skills and behavior interventions and communicate assessment that provides performance development opportunities.
- Participate in the interview and selection process of staff and make recommendations for hire.
- As needed, provide on-the spot discipline, give verbal warnings and complete the formal process for performance improvement.
- Supports and abides by the mission, values, and policies of CHCS in all activities.
- On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements.

Graduate of accredited School of Nursing Current State of Kansas RN license (BSN preferred) BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, PALS
