Locum md (medical doctor), do (osteopathic doctor) critical care

This opportunity is ideal for an Associate-level physician looking to deliver high-quality critical care services within a dynamic medical practice environment.

As a Locum Critical Care Physician, you will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of critically ill patients in intensive care settings. You will work closely with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and the broader medical team to ensure timely, evidence-based, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage critically ill patients in intensive care units
• Diagnose and treat acute and life-threatening medical conditions
• Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures and monitoring data
• Coordinate patient care with nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams
• Respond promptly to emergencies and rapidly changing clinical situations
• Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and referring physicians
• Adhere to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Requirements

• Valid MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of residency training and board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Utah, or eligibility to obtain one
• Current DEA registration and valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Experience in critical care or intensive care unit practice at the Associate level
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and locum assignments
• Preferred: Prior locum tenens experience and familiarity with electronic medical records systems

Schedule: 7p-7a

Patient Volume: ~12 per shift

Required Procedures: Airway management, central lines, arterial lines, dialysis catheter, paracentesis, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, etc.

Support Staff: MD, nurses, techs, etc.

EMR: Meditech and Patient Keeper

Board certification, ACLS, and DEA required
