Responsibilities

Student responsibilities will vary by assigned team within the IT department but can range from general clerical to hands-on experience with IT applications and/or hardware.

  • Embedded within an IT team and works under the general guidance of a supervisor within the department.
  • Works on projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Proficient with basic computer-based programs and utilizes what they learn in classes to inform their work and vice versa.
  • Prioritizes responsibilities to meet deadlines with successful completion of work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined up to 20 hours per week during the semester and 28 hours a week during breaks.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements.
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

Current enrollment in IS, IT. CS, HI or a related program in the University of South Alabama School of Computing.

  • Required: Must be in good academic standing, not a freshman, and not entering your final semester.
  • Required: Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
