Job Description

Summary

This position is located in an Office of Information and Technology (OIT) Division where the incumbent serves as an IT Specialist with full range of duties in developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems and services for the Unified Communications organization.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Implements, integrates, tests and maintains new system design and test procedures, including software and hardware devices, into existing network architecture; including enhancing traditional telephony, IP telephony and video teleconferencing in support of critical business applications and processes.
  • Manages stressful situations and deals with obstacles including peer relations and demands of handling multiple tasks through flexibility, creativity and initiative.
  • Plans and implements enhancements to the traditional telephony, IP telephony and video teleconferencing environment operation new technologies.
  • Plans, coordinates, develops, improves and integrates efficient and economical management of information systems in support of Unified Communications division activities.
  • Determines the impact and implications in supporting information systems by reviewing directives, policies, programs, enterprise-wide functional user requirements and acquisition strategies for program related issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a Non-Bargaining Unit Position. This position is primarily aligned to the following NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework work role: NCWF Code: 441 Category - Network Operations Specialist. Plans, implements, and operates network services/systems, to include hardware and virtual environments.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30 pm

Compressed/Flexible: Compressed/flexible schedule available at the manager's discretion

Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Physical Requirements:

The work is sedentary, but may involve periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, moving (up to 50 pounds) components and supplies, reaching, pulling, and working at a keyboard and monitor. Subject to call back outside tour of duty. You may be required to serve a probationary period Subject to background/security investigation. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/14/2026. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

Specialized Experience:

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Planning, integrating, and supporting enterprise Unified Communications systems including voice, video, and IP based technologies within complex network environments. Performs technical testing and advanced troubleshooting, maintains configuration baselines and documentation, delivers Tier III support, applies cybersecurity and compliance standards, and provides UC subject matter expertise for stakeholders and acquisition activities.
