Job Summary/Essential Job Functions

The Community Outreach Administrator facilitates and leads the planning and execution of special community outreach events in the College of Nursing (CON). This position provides leadership in the plan for community events including distinguished visiting professors (DVPs) who give lectures to the community, and various professional development events which focus on educating the nurses and the community. The Community Outreach Administrator provides administrative support necessary for the College of Nursing clinical faculty in the ULPS faculty practice group and the Director of Advance Practice Nursing, the Assistant Dean for the Center for Community and Global Partnerships. This position supervises administrative staff and has significant budgetary responsibility for the department.

Responsibilities

1. Assists in the hiring and termination processes for ULPS clinical faculty.
2. Assists in scheduling interviews, travel and hotel reservations, etc. for on-site interviews.
3. Maintains clinical faculty files with licenses, certifications, and other required documents.
4. Facilitates and leads the planning and execution of special community outreach events in the CON.
5. Assists the dept. chairs and Director of Advanced Practice Nursing, in conjunction with ULPS personnel, with onboarding & orientation schedules of new faculty.
6. Manages MAPS (Management of Aggressive Patient Situations) training certification program and other projects facilitated by the Center for Community and Global Partnerships.
7. Ensures the website for ULPS faculty bios/listings is updated on both the UTHSC and Le Bonheur websites.
8. Manages all administrative oversight for the MAPS program.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Experience: Two (2) years of experience handling administrative duties for multiple projects; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal six (6) years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
• Skills in Microsoft Office applications, including data entry, file management, spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Ability to adapt/adjust to changes, self-directed, able to make independent judgments when necessary and work positively with other faculty and staff.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
• Ability to work collegiately with all levels of staff and faculty within the College of Nursing and the university.
• Ability to use office equipment proficiently.

Work Schedule

This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
