The Hydrocarbons & New Energies team within Energy Sector Coverage offers an exciting front office position in Amsterdam for an ambitious professional who enjoys working in an international environment. In this position you actively contribute to driving the energy transition through financial solutions.
The Energy Sector Coverage team is one of the global specialist sector coverage teams and sits at the heart of ING Wholesale Banking. We provide banking services including complex financial solutions to Energy clients in the EMEA region, the Americas and in Asia-Pacific. From Amsterdam you will cover the Netherlands, UK and Scandinavian countries and occasionally be involved with clients and/or transactions in Africa and the Middle East. The Hydrocarbons & New Energies team covers the full spectrum of oil and gas exploration and production companies to oil-gas infrastructure space, refineries, base chemical producers and related service providers. Although the sector is still dominated by fossil hydrocarbons as feedstock for fuels and materials, clients and prospects are developing technologies and solutions to diversify away from the traditional oil & gas based business models.
Changing client strategies requires a similar change from ING to remain relevant. We see this as a great opportunity that lies ahead of us. We want to support clients that recognize the need to change their business model into sustainable solutions such as hydrogen, e- and biofuels and gases. Carbon capture, transport and storage solutions is another important area where we want to expand.
As an experienced Analyst, you will support and work closely with PAMs and/ or Deal Principals (DPs) and play an important role to (i) manage ING’s multi-product relationships with international clients in this fast changing dynamic sector, (ii) originate and structure financial solutions whilst (iii) actively increasing ING’s commitment into New Energies in line with ING’s strategy. A large part of your job will also consist of supporting the Head of Utilities NL in the management of his client relationships. This includes assisting with (i) the origination of business opportunities, (ii) managing internal stakeholders across teams and products, (iii) liaising between the Energy/Utilities team and Corporate Sector Lending, (iv) ensuring client and VCT plans are up to date and implemented and (v) management of day to day operational matters.
As an Analyst II, you actively contribute to the origination efforts of the Energy team, working closely with various product specialists across ING, Transaction Management and Portfolio Management. The role also involved regular contact with clients, other banks, technical and legal advisors. In all your activities you will strive to meet client needs in the best way. Working in the Hydrocarbons & New Energies team and supporting the Heads of Utilities NL means working in a dynamic environment with demanding, market leading clients. Due to the complexity of the assignments and the (inter)national nature of your work, your personal development curve will be steep. Energy Sector Coverage NL consists of 26 FTE of which 12 FTE in the Hydrocarbons & New Energies team. While globally, Energy Sector Coverage consists of c. 130 dedicated professionals located in main hubs New York, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Brussels and Singapore with smaller teams in countries across Europe. In your role you will report into the Head of Hydrocarbons & New Energies NL based in Amsterdam.
