Job Description

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. We are seeking qualified applicants for the position:

Manager, Training

Located: London

Joining the Venture Global Ship Management (VGSM) team in London, you will hold a fundamental position in a team that manages the in house owned and managed vessels.

As a Training Manager, you will closely interact with VGSM HSE, Marine and technical teams, VG training depart and Vessels to meet the training requirements of the fleet.

The Role:

To directly manage ongoing Training activities related to the Company's personnel both ashore and onboard Company vessels.

Job responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop training programs (in consultation with the HSE, Marine and Technical departments, VG crewing providers) and professional development plans for seafarers.
  • Work with training providers to develop bespoke VG courses, both onboard and at training establishments.
  • Maintaining the Training and Certification Matrix for seafarers and shored based personnel.
  • Managing Computer Based Training programs.
  • Conduct ship visits to review onboard training and progress of officer rating, cadets etc.
  • Evaluate post-training feedback and effectiveness. Provide training providers with feedback and track improvements agreed.
  • Oversee crew managers to ensure alignment with training and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor training outcomes and provide regular reporting management.
  • Conduct internal audits of the VGSM training system.
  • Visit and conduct audits of training facilities.
  • Research and implementation of new training courses.
  • Facilitating training workshops.
  • Ensuring in-house training materials are accurate and up-to date.
  • Organize and co-ordinate international officer seminars.
  • Support seafarer recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Draft procedures, processes, and best practices for the training function.
  • Ensure a culture of safety and excellence across training initiatives.

The ideal candidate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within ship management providing learning and development for office personnel, seafarers and cadets.
  • Ability to maintain accurate record-keeping and the ability to generate comprehensive reports.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory (ISM/SPS/MLC) obligations and the ability to ensure compliance with those related to seafarer training.
  • Efficiently manage tasks and priorities in a fast-paced and time-sensitive maritime environment.
  • Maintains the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Work Conditions:

Job is performed in an office and onboard Company vessels. Up to 20% travel can be expected, visiting VG vessels/facilities and training facilities. National and international travel can be expected. Must be able to board an LNG tanker ship via gangway and/or Pilot ladder. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors & outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise.
