Carelon Account Executive II

The Carelon Account Executive II is responsible for managing strategic health plan accounts across the Northeast region, driving client retention, strengthening executive relationships, and identifying opportunities to expand Carelon Behavioral Health solutions. This role partners with internal teams to deliver exceptional service, support contract renewals, and contribute to the continued growth of existing client partnerships.

LOCATION: Hybrid 1: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 day per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace.

How you will make an impact:

  • Responsible for achieving client retention by developing deep familiarity with all aspects of client contracts including products, service levels, and client KPIs.
  • Negotiate contracts and fees for delegated services upon contract renewal.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop account plans for each client.
  • Identify and execute cross-sell opportunities to achieve gross margin and EBITDA targets.
  • Develops business relationships with key decision makers and ensures client satisfaction.
  • Takes a lead role in client meetings, upsells and RFPs / Rebids.
  • Serves as a key client contact for independent resolution and innovation for client executive teams.
  • Identifies drivers of behavioral health trends experienced by the client’s members and works with clinical, SIU and network to achieve cost of care savings.
  • Lead and influence communications with client leadership on company value proposition and alignment to client strategy.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS, and a minimum of 7 years of experience working in a sales and/or account management, strategy, or sales support operations role; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • MBA preferred.
  • Behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Health plan, managed care, or payer account management experience.
  • Experience managing Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and Dual populations.
  • Executive-level relationship management.
  • Account retention and growth (upselling/cross-selling).
  • Contract negotiations, renewals, RFPs, and rebids.
  • Strategic account planning and revenue growth.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and executive presence.

Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of an Elevance Health PulsePoint in the Northeast/East Coast region to support the Hybrid 1 work arrangement and occasional onsite client meetings. Northeast candidates are strongly preferred.
