The Foundation Schools

Founded in 1975, The Foundation Schools is an Education Management organization dedicated to giving students with emotional disabilities and autism the opportunity to reach their full potential. Headquartered at 1330 McCormick Drive, Largo, MD, the organization operates with more than 70 employees and serves approximately 300 students in grades K-12 across the Washington metropolitan area. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it runs a network of nonpublic special education day schools approved by the Maryland State Department of Education and the District of Columbia's Office of the State Superintendent of Education. Guided by the belief that all students can achieve success, its staff provides individualized educational and therapeutic services, support for basic needs, parent assistance, and connections to community resources. Through this comprehensive support, students are empowered to transition back into public schools, explore college and career paths, and graduate ready to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
