SpaceX is a company in the Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing industry that designs, manufactures, and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. Founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, the company was established to revolutionize space transportation with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary. Headquartered on Rocket Road in Hawthorne, California, SpaceX employs more than 20,000 people. The company has achieved several historic milestones, including becoming the only private company to return a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit in December 2010, and successfully docking its Dragon spacecraft with the International Space Station in May 2012 to exchange cargo before returning safely to Earth. Since then, Dragon has continued to provide regular cargo resupply missions to and from the space station on behalf of NASA.
