Kamehameha Schools (KS) is a private charitable trust established in 1887 through the will of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great-granddaughter and last direct descendant of King Kamehameha I. Headquartered at 567 S. King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, the trust operates within the higher education industry with a mission to improve the capability and well-being of Hawaiians through education. KS runs an educational system serving more than 6,900 students across K-12 campuses on O'ahu, Maui and Hawai'i island, along with nearly 30 preschools statewide, while also reaching over 40,000 additional learners annually through community outreach programs. The organization employs more than 1,800 full-time and part-time staff across nine operational groups, including Community Relations and Communications, Campus Education, Hawaiian Cultural Affairs, Endowment, Administration, Finance, Strategic Planning and Implementation, Human Resources and Legal Services, and brings on approximately 2,000 temporary workers each year to support seasonal athletic and intercession programs.
