Its public housing program includes more than 4,000 apartments and single-family homes offering federal rental subsidies to low-income families, as well as disabled and elderly individuals. AMHA also owns or manages over 800 units supported by federal subsidies, low-income housing tax credits, or tax-exempt bonds, and administers rental assistance to more than 5,000 households through the Housing Choice Voucher Program. With more than 100 employees, AMHA partners with public and private organizations to address residents' basic needs and promote self-sufficiency. As demand for affordable housing grows—evidenced by over 22,000 applicants on its waiting lists—AMHA remains committed to investing in education, employment, and services for elderly and disabled residents.
