Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | No Two Visits Are the Same

Company: Home Health Care, Inc.

Location: Twin Cities Metro Area

Schedule: Full-Time or Part-Time

Compensation: $82,000–$110,000 per year (Paid Per Visit) + Mileage Reimbursement

To Stand Out

Email Nikky Vogelgesang at nicole.vogelgesang@hhcare.net with your resume and a brief overview of your COTA experience, clinical background, and what you're looking for in your next Occupational Therapy position.

If You Like Variety, Home Health Is Hard to Beat.

One patient is recovering from a stroke and relearning how to get dressed. Your next is rebuilding strength after a hospitalization. Another needs to figure out how to safely shower without relying on their spouse. Later that afternoon, you're working with someone on upper-extremity function so they can prepare their own meals again. Different patients. Different homes. Different challenges. Different goals. That's a day in home health Occupational Therapy.

Trade the Same Four Walls for a Career in the Field

Some clinicians love the predictability of working in one facility. Others eventually start feeling boxed in by it. If you're ready for a workday with more movement, independence, and variety, home health gives you the opportunity to take your COTA skills into the community. You'll travel between patients throughout your assigned territory, provide one-on-one treatment, collaborate with your supervising Occupational Therapist, and independently manage your day in the field. Your car becomes the space between appointments. Then you walk through the next front door and your complete attention shifts to one patient.

One License. A Lot of Different Ways to Use It.

Occupational Therapy is incredibly broad. Home health lets you use that. Depending on your patient, you may work on:

  • Dressing and grooming
  • Bathing and shower safety
  • Toileting routines
  • Meal preparation
  • Upper-extremity strength and function
  • Fine motor coordination
  • Functional mobility
  • Energy conservation
  • Adaptive techniques
  • Compensatory strategies
  • Home exercise programs
  • Safe use of adaptive equipment
  • Caregiver education
  • Returning to meaningful daily routines

Tomorrow's caseload may look completely different. That's the point.

You Get One Patient at a Time

Variety doesn't have to mean chaos. When you arrive at a patient's home, you're there for them. You're not simultaneously keeping an eye on another treatment table. You're not wondering whether your next patient has already checked in. You're not trying to divide your attention between several people. For that visit, you have one patient and one plan of care. Treat. Educate. Observe. Document. Communicate with the OT when needed. Then head to your next visit. For COTAs who enjoy independence but still want strong clinical support, it can be a completely different way to experience the profession.

What You'll Do

Working under the direction of the supervising Occupational Therapist, you'll:

  • Provide one-on-one Occupational Therapy treatments in patients' homes
  • Carry out individualized treatment plans established by the OT
  • Help patients improve activities of daily living
  • Provide therapeutic activities and exercises
  • Address upper-extremity strength, coordination, and functional use
  • Reinforce home exercise programs
  • Teach adaptive and compensatory techniques
  • Educate patients and caregivers
  • Reinforce safe use of adaptive equipment
  • Monitor patient response to treatment
  • Recognize and communicate changes in patient status
  • Report progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Collaborate with PT, nursing, SLP, physicians, and interdisciplinary clinicians
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation

Home Health Rewards Clinicians Who Know How to Run Their Day

You'll have independence here. And with independence comes ownership. Successful home health COTAs know how to organize their schedules, communicate with patients, stay on top of documentation, adapt when plans change, and keep their days moving. If you're motivated and organized, that independence can also translate into strong earning potential. This position offers:

  • $82,000–$110,000 in annualized earning potential through a paid-per-visit compensation model.
  • You'll also receive mileage reimbursement between patient visits.

Why COTAs Choose Home Health Care, Inc.

  • Variety throughout your caseload
  • Greater independence in your workday

  • Collaboration with experienced Occupational Therapists
  • Experienced Clinical Managers and interdisciplinary support

Benefits That Travel With You

Eligible employees also have access to:

  • Free MedBridge Education Hub for continuing education and professional development
  • Licensure reimbursement
  • Annual scrub reimbursement

  • Cell phone reimbursement for eligible clinicians

Different challenges to solve. But the purpose stays the same: Help each patient get better at the things they need and want to do every day.

$82,000–$110,000 per year (paid per visit). Mileage reimbursement between patient visits. Full-Time or Part-Time. Twin Cities Metro Area.
