About the Position

The Technical Asset Manager (TAM) is responsible for the technical performance, reliability, and financial optimization of operating solar assets within their assigned portfolio or region. The role owns asset health, production performance, O&M effectiveness, and technical risk management, while coordinating with operations, engineering, and finance to ensure portfolio objectives are achieved. The position carries full ownership of pre-identified and budgeted Capex workflow, vendor and contractor bid coordination, inherited contract review and assignment, routing internal engineering requests through ProCore and is accountable for the scoping, vendor-selection, and approval decisions that drive that work, and for the resulting technical outcomes. Day-to-day direction of a contractor's on-site execution of an awarded Capex scope sits with the assigned Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Asset Performance Oversight Review plant performance with Performance Engineering team for plant and equipment availability as well as production trends across the assigned portfolio. Identify underperformance drivers and coordinate corrective action with operations and engineering teams. Track and report production losses, degradation trends, and operational risks.
• Technical Strategy and Optimization Develop strategies to improve plant availability, reliability, and long-term asset performance. Evaluate performance improvement initiatives such as equipment upgrades, operational adjustments, or repowering opportunities. Analyze recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term mitigation strategies.
• O&M Oversight and Coordination Ensure maintenance activities support optimal plant performance and reliability. Review maintenance strategies, schedules, and corrective actions. Analyze operational performance relative to expectations and contractual guarantees.
• Vendor and OEM Management Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers and service providers. Initiate and drive warranty claims, equipment replacements, and technical issue resolution. Work with the Field Operations team to understand and craft spare parts strategy to support assets in assigned region.
• Risk and Reliability Management Identify technical risks affecting asset performance or reliability. Develop mitigation strategies for recurring equipment failures or systemic issues. Track major component reliability trends across the portfolio.
• Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate with performance engineering, operations, finance, and data teams. Provide technical input for budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
• Capex Scoping, Bid Management & Vendor Coordination Own the Capex scoping process for the portfolio: review diligence findings, deficiency reports, and allocated budgets, and approve final scopes of work before they go to bid. Review all Capex scope summaries prepared by the Diligence Team, providing feedback and direction alongside the Director of Technical Asset Management. Approve or lead outreach to contractors and vendors for RFQs and make final vendor/bid selection decisions within budget and authority limits, including issuance of the notice to proceed. Maintain accountability for vendor quote records, scopes of work, and pricing history across the portfolio. Upon contract award, hand off execution oversight to the assigned Project Manager, who directs the contractor's on-site work, schedule, and quality control through completion; the TAM retains approval authority over scope changes, change orders, and final acceptance/close-out of the completed Capex work.
• Internal Engineering Request Oversight (Procore) Set priorities for internal requests submitted to the engineering team through Procore Own all Procore workflow tied to RFI’s opened on projects in the TAM’s assigned region: to include responses and submittals by all parties tied to an RFI.
• Inherited Contract Review & Assignment Own final review and sign-off on inherited O&M and vegetation management contracts, including confirmation of proper assignment to Altus. Work with Financial Asset Management and Legal on formal contract assignment processes.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience in commercial & industrial (C&I) solar or renewable energy asset management, operations, or engineering, including direct accountability for asset performance and reliability outcomes.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or related technical field); or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong working knowledge of solar plant equipment (inverters, modules, trackers, transformers, SCADA/monitoring platforms).
• Demonstrated experience managing OEM and vendor relationships, including warranty claims and technical issue resolution.
• Experience developing and presenting technical performance reports to internal stakeholders and/or investors.
• Comfortable owning Capex budget decisions, vendor selection, and contract review/assignment processes.
• Prior experience directing or mentoring junior staff (e.g., Associates or coordinators) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and performance monitoring/reporting platforms; experience with Procore or similar systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination with operations, engineering, finance, and external vendors.
