Join NEI's growing System Studies team and help shape the future of power system engineering. As the Power System Studies Team Lead, you'll combine technical excellence with people leadership guiding a team of talented engineers delivering complex studies for utilities and renewable energy clients across North America. You'll play a key role in establishing technical standards, mentoring engineers, improving workflows, and helping expand one of NEI's fastest-growing technical practices. This role is ideal for an experienced power systems engineer who enjoys solving technically challenging problems while developing the next generation of engineering talent.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market. This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
Licensure: FE is required, PE is preferred
Knowledge and familiarity with: medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls
Experience with: one or more industry-standard power system analysis software packages such as: Steady State software: (PowerFactory; ETAP; SKM Power Tools; Easypower; Aspen; Windmil) System Protection & Arc Flash software: (CAPE, Aspen, ETAP; Power Factory; SKM Power Tools; Easy Power) Grounding software: (CDEGS; WinIGS) Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: (PSSe, PSLF) Cable Ampacity software: (Cymcap) Transient Studies software: (PSCAD)
Possesses effective written and oral communications skill
Good interpersonal and people skills
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be required
Travel: Typical: 15 – 25%
