Tax planner

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax Planner based in United States.

This is a fully remote opportunity within a growing wealth management and tax practice.

The Tax Planner will help develop and review individualized tax plans and projections for a broad client base. You’ll support individual income tax preparation while partnering closely with financial advisors on tax strategies. The role combines technical tax work, financial analysis, client service, and problem-solving. You’ll also prepare and review financial reporting packages and investigate financial trends and variances.

Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and a willingness to continuously learn. It’s well suited to a motivated tax professional who enjoys collaboration and helping clients pursue their financial goals.

Accountabilities

• Build and review individualized client tax plans, projections, and related analyses.
• Assist with individual income tax preparation and filing activities for a substantial client base.
• Develop practical experience and proficiency across individual income tax matters and planning projects.
• Collaborate with financial advisors to identify and develop tax strategies aligned with clients’ broader financial objectives.
• Research and resolve individual tax questions and issues, applying sound judgment and creative problem-solving.
• Verify invoices against client billing arrangements and maintain accurate billing records.
• Prepare and review financial statements and reporting packages, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Investigate financial variances, trends, and other items requiring additional analysis.
• Maintain accurate, organized work while managing multiple priorities in a distributed remote environment.
• Learn and adopt new software applications, processes, and tax-related tools as required.

Requirements

• 1–5 years of experience in public accounting, tax preparation, tax planning, financial planning, or a closely related field.
• CPA or EA certification is required; CFP certification is optional.
• Strong interest in individual taxation, tax planning, and solving client-specific tax issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with a strong commitment to accuracy and follow-through.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial or tax concepts clearly.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think independently and develop practical solutions.
• Comfortable learning new technologies and professional software applications quickly.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with advisors and distributed teams in a remote environment.
• Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and willing to take on new challenges.
• Experience with CCH Axcess or other professional tax software is a plus.
• Familiarity with Schwab, Fidelity, or similar brokerage platforms is beneficial.
• Experience with Orion or another portfolio management platform is a plus.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or another client relationship management platform is advantageous.
