Position Overview

The Sr. Manager, Website Optimization & SEO owns how 10xgenomics.com performs as a marketing asset. This role reports to the Director, Global Digital Marketing and is accountable for three things: the technical health of the site as seen by search engines and AI answer engines, our organic visibility across traditional search and AI-driven discovery, and the conversion performance of the pages that matter most to our pipeline and e-commerce business.

This is an audit, analytics, and influence role, not a content or coding role. You will find the issues, prioritize them, make the case, and track them to resolution with the web engineering team, the web product team, and the content team. You will not write the content or ship the code, but you will be the reason both get better.

The website is owned technically by our web engineering team and its product roadmap is led by web product management. You will be digital marketing's voice in that partnership, bringing the marketing lens on search, site health, and conversion, and making sure those priorities are represented, measured, and delivered.

What you will be doing:

1. Website Health and Technical SEO
   • Auditing: Run recurring technical audits of 10xgenomics.com covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, redirects, broken pages and links, page speed, structured data, and international targeting.
   • Prioritization: Turn audit findings into a prioritized, business-justified backlog for the web engineering team, with clear impact estimates and acceptance criteria.
   • Tracking: Track remediation through to completion and report on site health trends over time. Own the health scorecard leadership sees.
   • Standards: Define and maintain SEO and marketing best-practice standards for new pages, templates, and site launches, and review major releases before and after they ship.
2. Search and AI Answer Engine Visibility
   • SEO strategy: Own the organic search strategy for the site, including keyword and topic opportunity analysis, competitive gap analysis, and the roadmap for closing those gaps.
   • AEO (Answer Engine Optimization): Own how 10x shows up in AI-driven discovery (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and similar), including structured data, content structure, entity clarity, and measurement of AI-driven visibility and referral traffic.
   • Content direction: Deliver briefs to the content team that specify what to create or update and why, based on search demand and gap analysis. The content team writes; you direct.
   • Measurement: Own organic performance reporting: visibility, rankings, organic traffic, and organic contribution to leads and e-commerce revenue.
3. Conversion Optimization
   • Analysis: Analyze user behavior on key marketing and e-commerce pages (landing pages, product pages, forms, quote and purchase paths) to identify friction and lost conversion.
   • Recommendations: Own digital marketing's conversion optimization recommendations and the marketing side of the testing roadmap: what to test, where, and what success looks like.
   • Partnership: Partner with web product management and engineering, who own the web product roadmap and implementation, to get marketing priorities scheduled, built, and measured. Bring the data and the case; align on the roadmap together.
   • Landing pages and campaigns: Set conversion standards for campaign landing pages built by the digital marketing team and review high-value pages before launch.
4. Cross-Functional Leadership
   • Web engineering and web product: Build a working partnership grounded in shared data and a shared backlog. Be the marketing stakeholder they want in the room.
   • Content and creative: Provide the search insight that shapes what gets written and how it is structured.
   • Digital marketing team: Support paid media, email, webinar, and ABM programs with landing page and search guidance.
   • Analytics and marketing operations: Ensure web analytics, tagging, and attribution support the measurement this role depends on.
   • Vendors and tools: Own the SEO, crawling, and conversion testing tool stack for marketing and manage any agency support.

Skills and Competencies

• Technical SEO depth: Hands-on expertise diagnosing and prioritizing technical SEO issues on large, complex B2B websites. You can read a crawl, a log file, and a Search Console report and know what matters.
• AEO fluency: Working understanding of how AI answer engines discover, cite, and summarize web content, and a point of view on how to measure and improve it.
• Conversion optimization: Experience running or leading conversion analysis and A/B or multivariate testing programs, including hypothesis development, test design, and reading results correctly.
• Analytics: Strong command of GA4 (or equivalent), Google Search Console, crawling tools (Screaming Frog, Lumar, Botify, or similar), and testing platforms. Comfortable in spreadsheets and dashboards; SQL a plus.
• Influence without authority: Track record of driving change through teams you do not manage, especially engineering and product teams, by bringing clear data, clear priorities, and clear asks.
• Communication: Able to explain technical findings to marketers and business impact to engineers, and to present a site health or conversion story to senior leadership in plain language.
• Prioritization: Comfortable saying what matters most and what can wait, and defending that call with evidence.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in SEO, website optimization, or digital marketing with direct ownership of a B2B website's organic and conversion performance.
• Hands-on experience with technical SEO auditing and remediation on enterprise-scale or multi-region websites.
• Experience leading conversion optimization or experimentation programs, in partnership with product and engineering teams.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in life sciences, biotech, or another technical B2B industry with long, research-driven purchase cycles.
• Experience with B2B e-commerce or quote-to-order web experiences.
• Demonstrated work on AI answer engine visibility, including measurement.
• Experience working alongside a dedicated web engineering or web product team, rather than owning the site directly.
• Experience with headless CMS environments and structured data at scale.
• Experience managing SEO or conversion agencies or vendors.
